Power Adaptor Puzzle

I'm having a hell of a time locating an auto charger for the NZ90 which does not require the cradle to be present. Many sites state that the charging/Hotsync cradle must be used with all the available auto adaptors.

Some other sites, offer auto chargers for the NX series and claim that they also work with the NZ series (but make no mention of needing to cart around the cradle). I am a little doubtful and am hesitant to order one of these.

Does anyone have any experience with an extra powersource for charging the NZ90 that does not require you to cart the damned cradle around with you as a power adaptor?

This is what you need, although Sony says not to use it. Some members have and said it was a tight fit, but worked. Extra care is required not to break the connector on the back of the NZ90.

I have been using the adapters that Larry has pictured in his reply.
I have been using them for about 6 months now. I have the main adapter with cradle on my office computer, and a direct connect adapter on the home machine. I keep a charger in the car, and use it quite a bit. The fit IS quite snug, but I believe that someone posted a reply months back that they had sanded down the edge of the plastic adapter a bit, and it was just fine.

Just to clarify so I don't order the wrong one. These are the adaptors listed for the T-series right? Those appear to match the photos above.

The power adapter sony tells you not to use for the NZ places a lot of strain on the power/synch port on the back of the device. However, just yesterday, at Best Buy I saw a cradle-less synch kit which as a FLAT plug at its end (rather than the raised plastic on the sides) which will fit the NZ, both for synching and power purposes.

The solution works, but it's a bit pricey if you consider that the cradle folds flat anyway.

i use a belkin usb charger/hotsync cable, which also came with the usb to car charger plug. nice combo, bought at circuit city. the t/nx/nz all share the same adaptor slot.
