I am suprised to see an Alexa add at the upper right hand corner of my screan. Alexa is an advertising robot that installs itself onto computers and takes control of some web browsing activities such as the search engine that appears whenever you type in keywords in your address bar for searches.
If you have noticed that your default search engine through your address bar has changed from msn to some strange advertising based engine, then you have been intruded by alexa.
I would recomend installing a freeware app called SpyBot-Search and Destroy. This is a reputable spybot killer that effectively cleans your system from known spyware activitie that is installed onto computers while browsing the web. SpyBot also has "immunization" features that help protect your computer from further "attacks". The immunization does not completely protect your computer, but it does help. You will still need to periodically check your system for problems.
You can download SpyBot HERE (http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?lang=en&page=download). Go to the bottom of this page. Download the app then open it up and "check for problems". Hope this post is a help.

Nevermind. I see what you're talking about. It doesn't/hasn't downloaded anything on my computer. Reggie doesn't do 'spyware'! I went to the site, and noticed they do have a tool bar, but other than that, NOTHING.

Thanks yellow rose. I have appreciated that this site is not full of popups and other aggressive add ploys.

Thanks for the word on "Alexa". I ran Ad-Aware 6.0 and it caught the Alexa stuff and removed it. However I still see Alexa on the home CS page. When I click on it, it takes me to Alexa page, then if I try and go back, it hijacks me and takes me to another page. Not sure I undertand since I thought I got rid of this stuff...tried it logged in with cookies turned on, and logged off, cookies cleared and it shows up on page both ways...Am I missing something?

You will continue to see the Alexa ad.
They paid for it to be there. There's nothing you can do to remove it yourself.
Sorry.

Leave poor Alexa alone...
Of course, if everyone donated something...

Oh yeah, and I almost forgot - get a better browser...I'll bet you're using MS Explorer, right? That's probably a LARGE part of the problem . . . oh yeah, and STOP clicking on the ad, if you don't want to go there . . . :D ;)

Hey you could sell some of those extra PDAs and give a hefty donation :).

Not a problem Yellow Rose. I understand about paid ads paying the bills. However I was just trying to understand if I had a problem or not. And by the way....I only clicked on Alexa ad once, and that was after I had been zinged to another page, and started investigating it (and I ran Ad-Aware before I ever clicked on the ad and it found it). Maybe I wasn't too clear in my post.
You could have simply explained it to me. I think it's amusing that since the posts "questioned" something about a paid ad (and I wasn't completely sure it was a paid ad at that time), you moved the post and answers off the General topic page, so I had to search to find your answer.
I wasn't (and still not) trying to start a flame....Just trying to find some answers.
