whereas i do not have problems with graffiti i do thinks that there are a lot of folks using jot for easier way of data input. well, as jost was licensed by palmsource yesterday i think it won't take so long that we will see graffiti2. question is whether palm will offer an upgrade to os 4 & 5, just upgrad 5 or - what i doubt - wait to os6.

They're going to be updating 4 as well I believe. I think the version numbers are going to be 4.1.2 and 5.2

Or thats what I heard :)

It's already in the works...
OS4.1.2 and 5.2, like Derango said.
This was found in another thread:

if i understand correctly, the SJ30 doesn't actually have flash rom, only mask rom... so does that mean SJ30s wouldn't be able to upgrade to 4.1.2?

The question is will you want to.
Just because Palm has to make the change doesn't mean we have to. Whatever the learning curve for Graffiti, it's over now for most folks and I find it hard to even print by hand without using those weird k's and t's.
Unless there is something else in the OS upgrade I really need, I'll just stick to what I have for now (at least until something better than the NZ comes along tempting me to drop my NR).

Besides, I've been trying the Jot demo and am unimpressed. I write faster with more accuracy using Graffiti, and Graspeedy hack for the capitals...

On the faster machines, shouldn't they be able to do better handwriting recognition like the Pocket PCs? I guess they aren't going that direction. Too bad.

But I do like Jot. If for nothing other than the capitalization and the ability to write on the screen (one of my palms is broken on the lower part, so I can't use the data entry area.)
