You'll need the wireless router, still. Afterall, without it, how would you physically connect to anything if you didn't have a "receiver"?

The most common use of SmbMate allows you to connect to "shared" folders on Windows-based machines on your network. This allows you, wirelessly, to transfer files between your Clie and your Windows PC.

nz90_user,

SMBMate is, quite simply, the best wireless app yet made for Sony handhelds. It allows your handheld to transfer files to and from your home or office network, accessing them directly through the WiFi or Bluetooth link. It lets you share the folders of your main computer, transfer files from the computer to your memory stick, or from your memory stick to your computer.

Basically, this allows you to do some REALLY cool things. You can basically now have a Clie with unlimited storage, as long as you are within range of your WiFi or Bluetooth network. You can keep a large collection of images, transfer them back and forth, move MP3 audio files from your collection on your computer to your handheld, or transfer apps in and out of your handheld without needing to hotsync or do any mouse clicking on your main computer. Another handy use is to transfer ebooks or spreadsheet or word processing documents from your computer to your Clie, basically giving you access to all of your office documents for viewing or editing.

I hope this gives you some idea as to the power and flexibility of this marvelous application, I am very indebted to the writer for creating it!

Best regards,
Bawko

The Chicken is right, some of us have waited so long for an app like this. It was as exciting as discovering that an extra 15MB was available on my Clie!!! :D

a quick search on your history doesn't turn anything up.
are you talking about Cliefiles being able to unzip natively?

Yes, Clie Files V 1.1.1 let you unzip files off a .zip file and save them anywhere.

Plus there are other apps for Palm that can both zip and unzip files.

Average speed for what?

One test app says over 300kbps for my NX80 from the net.

SmbMate runs very briskly for me!:)
