View Full Version : Unknown Palm device?
Hi all,
long time listener, first time caller...
In an act of genius, I've swapped laptops and find that when I connect my NX60 to the new laptop (Sony Z1RSP, XP Pro) it requires the drivers for the USB link to the NX60.
I've lost my install CD :(
I've flattened the old PC before installing the clie so don't have access to the old .inf files. :( :(
So I can't link. I've got the Palm desktop from Palm including HotSync but can't find the correct files anywhere on the web to connect the Clie, so it can't see the device when I click the button on the cradle
Can anyone help? I'm going nuts here!
Lee.

Call Sony support at 877-760-7669, for a price, you can have it overnighted!
We get a request at least once a day for a replacement CD.
Some have lost even 2 or 3 of them.
Unless someone has all 560MB hosted on a server somewhere, I have no clue as to where you can download it.
Oh dear, so I need all 580Mb of the CD? I was hoping to get away with just the Windows drivers, which should be much, much smaller.
I hardly dare ask but how much do Sony usually charge for replacement disks  :(
After buying the Z1, funds are more than a little low!
Thanks for the quick reply,
Lee.

Do you really need drivers for that? Someone asked me to mail them a copy of my CD, but later he told me he got PalmDesktop to work so he didn't need it anymore.
You would need some HotSync software for synchronizing with Outlook (i.e. Intellisync or PocketMirror), but that should be it right?
In fact I would swear I did some installations without needing the CD, but that might be because I use WinXP?
Apart from that, the Drivers directory on the CD is only 285KB. So that wouldn't be too much of a problem. There also is an MS SCSI directory which is about 1MB though.

I will perform several random acts of kindness next week in way of thanks. I'm really happy now!!! :D

He, he, you're welcome. But seriously, what did you need to do to make it work? I'd swear I never needed the CD on my WinXP machine, but then that was ages ago (in Sony years)
I think I'm the type of person that keeps support people in jobs...I installed the drivers through Device Manager, removed the installed Palm desktop I had, rebooted, installed the one from Sony and then pressed the sync button - et voila!
So, not sure which bit fixed it, but it does work now :D

Hi LeeH,
I have the same problem than the one you got but I am still stuck with the device manager unable to get the Palm Handheld driver.
Could you help me on that point, please ?

Hmm, I tried to find the Palm Desktop Sony link the other day, but Sony had rearranged everything and I only could find the listed updates to the Palm Desktop. Also, I didn't realize you were in England too, a different Sony support would need to be contacted.

Hi
First stop, uninstall any Palm software you've put on (after backing up your data somewhere safe). Reboot, then follow the link posted by unregistered above.
I'm using XP Pro, not sure if that helps or not.
Oh, the Sony UK support number, if anyone needs it is 08456 014254
