I can't search back through the old threads......bummer. I am thinking of trying this program out but I have things going so well on "Lucille" (NR70) and I have several hacks and TEXTPLUS and TAPPAD and POCKETOP keyboard with UNROTATE and ..... I just don't want to screw everything up with a new core program. I hear lot's of folks talk about PageDownHack but not so much about NRButtons. Anyone know of conflicts???

Only problem I have with NR Buttons is that it disables Slowlaunch everytime I open NR Buttons configuration window. This isn't a huge problem, since I very rarely re-configure NR Buttons and when I do, it just takes a soft reset to re-enable Slowlaunch. If it's important to you, NR Buttons will no longer launch McPhling, since the last McPhling update. I don't use any of the Hacks you mentioned, so I can't tell you if there will be any conflicts there. I do use about six other hacks and about 12 DAs with no conflicts other than what I mentioned. I think Standalone has ceased development of NR Buttons, so if you buy it, as their name implies, you will "standalone".

I do prefer NR Buttons over Pagedownhack. NR Buttons has much more functionallity and puts icons on your task bar. With Pagedownhack, if you want icons, you need a skin manager and a taskbar skin. There are plenty of skins available for it.

I don't believe NR Buttons will support OS5. Not sure about Pagedownhack, since most hacks don't work with OS5.

I can't answer all of your questions, Shamrock, but I can answer a couple of them.

First, try NRButtons. I have an NR70v and NRButtons is one of my favorite apps!

I'm sure you've found the developer's Web site, but for other people interested in NRButtons, it's here Standalone (http://standalone.com/palmos/nr_buttons/).

I use NRButtons along with TapPad and McPhling with no problem.

NRButtons is specifically written to work with the Sony Clie NR devices. At the present time, it does not work for OS 5.0 devices.

The developer of NRButtons, Ben Gottlieb, is very responsive. A nice guy and a stellar developer. He is apparently working on an OS5 version, but there is no release date at this time.

Folks, this is really helpful! I have put it on "Lucille" and it seems very simpatico with NR. Sorry to hear that Standalone has put it in the Abandonware column for OS4. I guess I will just ride the wave until it beaches. I did find that it doesn't get out of the way of some FULL screen aps like Acid Image and Isilo but these are small protuberances.

I have one (small) problem with NR Buttons. The icons disappear if you're using YiShow with a 16 bit background. They come back when you switch the virtual graffiti on and off again, but you shouldn't need to.

Did you check mark the option for it to "disable in full screen apps" in the configuration under the Advanced tab? I haven't had that problem with it. Had a problem with it not going away in a beta version of ZLauncher, but ZZTechs seems to have fixed it.

Thanks again, Sebring, that worked!

Another clue with the screwy resolution is that if I come out of ISILO and right in to NRButtons, there are thick curved lines randomly over the screen. Also Zlauncher remains locked in the "super zoomed" mode and responds to no taps on the screen. If I use a hard button to go to another app and then back to ZL, everything is fine. Uh, IOHKNOW!

Actually, you don't need a skin manager. Just PageDownHack and a StatusBar skin are enough. (Palm OS PDAs don't have "taskbars". ;) )

Hedlasse:

This is a known issue with YiShow and NR Buttons, sorry.

Well, this is not quite true. We've stopped adding features to NR Buttons, but will try to resolve any bugs/crashes you encounter. We recently released v1.2 of NR Buttons, which we feel addresses MOST of the requests people had for the application.

Thanks!

Ben,

As you well know, I've been happily using NRB 1.2 for some while - it's my main launcher. Last week, I decided to move it over to flash with JackFlash as I'd got about 100k free after some rejigging. NRB definitely didn't like it. It loses the application list on the main config screen (the apps are still there as tapping into the blank are will remove one); also, it doesn't then restart after a reset - I had to uncheck and recheck enable.

I moved it back to RAM and it took a couple of resets to restore normal behaviour. I tried it all again (putting it into flash) to check it wasn't a random glitch and, no, it misbehaved the same way.

It's fine in RAM but I thought it worth mentioning - it's a brilliant little app (I'd say almost indispensible for the NR series if used in tablet mode).
