I have tried to use the original Sonic Stage Software to transfer form my desktop the ATRAC3 formated audio files to my Sony Clie PEG-NR70V/U.

However, I get the message:
The media is not available, because it lacks copyright protection or is invalid.

As the transfer is not functioning, I can not listen to music. Just basics are not working. Can somebody give me a tip.

Thanks, Audioman

You will need to have the White MagicGate memory stick to listen to Atrac3 format music.
Otherwise the normal purple memory stick is sufficient if you just want to listen to normal MP3 format music.

I had the same problem. I finally deleted the Sonic Stage program (which wasn't that good to begin with). I then converted my music into plain old MP3's, and imported them with MSImport. The OpenMG (Atrac) format is for copywrite protection, and will only work on Magic Gate Memory Sticks, which are quite a bit more expensive than Memory Sticks. I suspect the whole thing is a ploy to sell more expensive sticks rather than copywrite protection. Otherwise, there wouldn't be such an easy way around it.
