View Full Version : Does CFUtility or Pelacas drivers interfere with CF100 or Ambicon CF functioning?

Folks,

I have spent the last 2 days trying to absorb all the knowledge on the threads related to CFUtility, Pelacas solution, and CliePets 3 bits. I have achieved that level of 'presence' about CF that I'm 'Educated beyond my intelligence'. Result= I'm so cross conflictede I can't see the forest for the trees.

All my effort is to allow me to use my NZ90 with the CF100 modem, Ambicon modem, Clie camera, and some functional version of CF that will allow me to utilitize the CF slot when it's not filled with the CF100 or Ambicon. Playing movies and music is not a high priority. I use my NZ as a business tool primarly and very rarely as an entertainment medium.

That said; I have all the latest updates installed for all NZs components-memory stick, CF100, camera, etc. I've been using Eruware CFUtility since ver 1.0. Prior to that my CF100 did function but my prioritys were focused on getting more storage rather than communications with the internet.

Will you folks give me some direction on which of Pelacas, Eruware, & CLiePEts software will allow me to add internet communications without giving up storage or camera functionality.

The above is my post. I logged in but apparently by the time I posted, I had been logged off.

Could you state your question a bit more succintly?

My best guess is that you are asking:

"i have never hooked up to the internet, will the pelecas or eruware driver interfere with anything"

The answer is no, no problem.

Greg,

Succintly is this;

My CF100 used to work before I installed Eruware CFUtility(right after it originally came out). Since then I've tried to install/use the Ambicon modem without success. And recently tried to use my CF100 and my NZ won't recognize its even in the slot. I'm trying to identify the culprit and if needbe, update my system if it turns out the problem lies with CFUtility.

P.S...Per Sonys cs site I reverified that my Network connection is set up correctly.

I assume CF100=WL100?

rob,

You assume right. WL100. Presently when I insert the WL100 into the NZ and my access point is on, the WL100 light wont come on. When I use Blazer to try to connect, it brings up a dialog that saws my modem setting may be incorrect.

I am using both the WL100, which I use at home and at Starbucks here in Singapore for surfing and email, and the Ambicom modem for when I am travelling in the third world, all using the Eruware driver. I have had no problems and view videos, play music, etc, but it seems like I am the only person in the world that does not have problems.

No, your not the only person, you do have company, and that is me... :D

Now I only use my NX80 mostly, hmm, we must be doing something wrong??

Croc & n2ifp,

What cf driver do you use for the Ambicon?.The only one I hear about is Pelacas & his instructions indicate that his Ambicon driver won't function if Eruware CF is installed. Keep in mind I have a NZ90 American version.

Both CF Utility and the Eruware driver work fine with the W110. I haven't actually connected to the net using Pelaca's driver (no Wifi router nearby), but when I hit connect using Netfront, the LEDs light up normally, and the 'connecting' dialog appears as it should.

Sorry, I forgot to add that I didn't install any of the drivers for the modems. I only synced the storage-related Pelaca drivers. Perhaps therein lies your problem. And maybe (heaven forbid), Sony actually improved the W110 to make it more compatible with the CF slot than the W100?

I have the EruWare driver on the NX70 and the Pretec modem driver.

On the NX80, I also use the Pretec modem with the Sony CF driver.

Both work just fine, including 802.11b WiFi with the WL100 driver.

Where I think the confusion lies is that you can't use the EruWare driver and the Sony driver at the same time.

The Pelaca package is essentially comprised of hacked Sony apps. The modem driver is Sony, but it was translated from Japanese to English. Then modem strings were added to include additional modems. This is still an ongoing process that Pelaca has taken on. The Sony CF drivers seem to work best with the hacked Sony multi-media apps. Pelaca deserves a lot of credit for packaging and supporting us Clie users! Soon, Pelaca will need English versions of the UX multimedia apps to share with us all... :)

No not really, but it was not needed. The newer WL100 driver is the same for both cards though.

The modem CF Utility and the EruWare CF Utility can coexist together!
