Does the Clie need a special USB driver to perform a hot sync?

I have a USB port that works well with a compact flash card reader after installing the driver that comes with it. However I cannot perform a Clie hot sync with the same USB port. Is there any special driver I need to install for the Clie? If so where to find it?

There should be one on the CD that came with your Clie.

No, its actually in the PC Driver folder in your CD. Intellisync is a different altogether.

Intellisync is the conduits and mapping for syncing with Outlook once the HotSync has started. I don't need/use intellisync for syncing with the Palm Desktop PIM. Pocket Mirror is another syncing application people use too, but it is NOT the actual driver itself.

i have a similar problem. the syncronisation via msimport works fine, but the usb-port is not recognized, so i can't do any hotsyncs. then when i install palmdesktop again, it works until i start the computer again and it says i got a registry error.

it gets corrected (uses an older registry version) but the usb-hotsync is deleted and i only got the - local serial - modem -network options to choose.

as well palm desktop doesnt start. i'm using the nx70v, had a palm 5x before. deleted all the programs before installing the new stuff..... but it just doesn't work....... anyone could help????? maybe it's "just" a computer problem (win98, 2nd edition) or maybe someone had the same problems with the usb driver??

You have to run thru the install program from the CD that came with the clie.
or
download the palm desktop 4.1 AND the Hotsync update from www.palm.com and install both.

thanks mate. mmhh....strange, it works now. i deleted the palm simulator folder and it works!! well, i don't know if that has anything to do with it but it kind of looked like.... well, anyway IT WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thanks
