My NX suddenly played dead on me after I inserted my WiFi card.
The NX was off when I inserted the card and I got the proper double beeps.
But when I hit the power button - no response !!
I double checked the "hold" switch, flick it back and forth... still no response !!
Finally, I poke the reset button and the it got back to me. <phew> !!

Just a little earlier tonight, I reached for my Clie and it slipped out of my hand. I slowed it down with my other hand and then caught it before it hit the tile floor.
This was from about 4 feet up.
Whew!

I was about to leave my clie on the passanger seat of my car while I ran inside for a minute, but thought just in case... While inside (less than 3 minutes) some kids driving by saw my car running (was single digit weather) and stole everything out of my car.....
They took my old discman, some burned cds, my car manual and proof of insurance (those bast*rds) and an empty fire extinguisher, but I had the clie =) phew....

Dude, that sucks, I'd be pissed if that happened. Good thing you brought your baby inside tho, where it was safe. I hate stealers, I lost my $300 phone that way.

Fate has a strange way of working. Glad you took the Clie with you. I think during my years of owning a PDA and growing so reliant on it, I have 'evolved' an invisible leash. It seems that my NX is never more than arms length away.
It's either in my hands, pocket or on the table in front of me. I know, I have no life!

Yea I got lucky, they stole everything (even some garbage....literally).... They missed my personal organizer though that I used to keep between my seat & console (this is when i was just learning clie, still used organizer), it's really obvious, a big black thing; but they musta just missed it...
Funny they took everything but didn't take the money (toll change & emergency $ in the visor) nor the organizer (credit cards, cash, the valuables).... Talk about patheic theives.
My sister got me a wallet for christmas and now I carry everything in there so I never leave anything in the car =) and I just use the clie for all my organization.... Definitly an awesome switch.... Had my clie been stolen though someone would have been hung! (the only kids are around the corner so I would have to talk with daddy & mommy)....but since the clie is safe, I'll let them slide....

Scarriest moment? It had to be when I ordered an NX70 from SonyStyle the day they were open to orders, and after waiting for regular ground shipping, opened the box to find that the NX70 was not in the box! All the manuals, CD, wrist strap, etc were there, but no handheld device. Imagine trying to convince Sony of that! It worked out. I sent the box back, got a credit on my credit card, and bought one from Circuit City ... after making sure it was in the box.

My scariest moment was also one of my most fun...
When my wife and I were going through security at O'Hare Airport in Chicago. She was ahead of me and put her stuff on the x-ray belt and walked through the metal detector. I put my stuff on the belt and walked through the metal detector and when I showed the guard my Clie, he said that I had to put it on the belt. No problem, so I did and went back through the metal detector. Well it always happens. I wear Rockport shoes, and they have a steel shank in the sole which ALWAYS sets off the metal detectors. Anyway, I got delayed and had to go through the typical hand scan, etc. No big deal. So I finished and I joined ny wife who had grabbed our stuff and we headed to the gate. We were sitting there for a while and I decided to play with my new Clie.
MY CLIE!!! CRAP! WHERE IS IT? "Did you pick it up off the belt?" I asked my wife. "Nope. I thought you had it."
So I RAN back to security. (Why is it that when I get assigned a gate, it is always one of the FARTHEST from secutity?) Anyway, two security guards must have seen me coming, because the were holding my Clie smiling. They were so intrigued by it, and I spent the next 5 minutes showing it off!!!
Needless to say, since that, I have a complete mental checklist of things to watch for while carying my Clie!

Scariest moment was I went to pick it off my desk, and something kept it from staying in my hands, and it went down towards the floor. The string was caught in a drawer, and luckily it held and didn't bite the dust!

Mine was during church the first Sunday after I got my NX70V. I run sound with another person and we sit in the back at a table. She was eating cheese curls when I pulled it out for the scripture reading. What I'm about to tell you next is quite graphic so if you're eating something, please finish it before continuing. The next thing I saw were these big, orange, cheesy, claw-like fingers reaching for my clie. I almost started a fight right there during service! :D Though it was a close call, I was fortunately able to save my baby from that monstrosity!

Scariest moment was almost buying the Toshiba PocketPC e740 before deciding on the NX70v. Thank goodness I came to my senses.

Mine was going to where I left my NX70V (I call her Clara...I don't know why...) and not finding it there. Only to look up and find my 2 year old holding it, trying to open it (she loves to look at herself in the movie player!) My heart about stopped!! I didn't want to freak her out and make her drop it by yelling at her, and my gun was in the other room, (kidding!) but when I went to get it from her she took off like a shot! Now my heart is in my throat, and I'm chasing this kid through the house, thinking "If I throw something and trip her, maybe she won't drop it!!" (just kidding) (sorta). Finally she runs to my wife who scoops her up and snags Clara. Then SHE takes off running, and I really did go get my gun (hey, I can get another wife, but where am I going to get another $600???)

This happened with a friend's NX (mine hasn't had any accidents, luckily! only bad thing was when I slammed a door into it a little as I was passing through it while opening it but stumbled a little, and it was fine after I took it out of my pocket):
He's standing in a hallway at school waiting for his kid to come (he was picking him up), and a pair of kids are chasing eachother... one grabs the back of the other's shirt, but breaks away and slams right into my friend, sending the Clie flying several feet through the air and landing on the tiled floor. He scrambles over to it (it was in laptop form while he was using it since he was playing a game of Spy Hunter) and sees it closed... opens it up from the clamshell and thankfully it works just fine, not even scrapes since it landed flat down.
Thank goodness for the clamshell :)!!

My Clie was completely dead. I realized later maybe the HOLD switch was holding it ON. So, I lost all my data and had to do a hard reset. I was on vacation and many days from being able to HotSync. Luckily, I had backed it up on an MS right before vacation, so I was able to Restore. If that had not worked, the vacation would have been over........

I have new one, i had it charging in its cradle last night, not thinking about the hand strap, and my cat, (high off catnip) was busy trying to pull it down to her.....I heard the sound of cradle on computer and leapt at it, saving it before she killed it (that will teach me to leave it charge face out!)
Scaryest moment, i was climbing a hill at a friends ranch, and i accidentaly touch the electric fence, (you may remember this from another post) i took out my clie and it wouldn't turn on, silly me i had the hold swich on,

Scarries moment with a happy ending. So It's superbowl weekend and my wife who's like 7 months pregnant is a big fan so we decide to rent a place in Maine for the weekend and watch the game there.
So we're there and she sends me out to the grocery store for snack food for the game. I take of in MY car to the grocery store get all sorts of stuff and one of those tostetos pre done chip and cheese packages. And I use my palm in the check out line. The game starts and we start munching away she opens the tostitos and there are about five chips in there. Well she's pregnant and has decided the chips and cheese where what she really wanted. Forget all the other crap I got. So half time comes and I'm sent out to the nearest convience store to get a BIG bag of chips and two cans of cheese. Well naturally I dash out as soon as the half ends in HER car and scoop up my Palm M505 ( I know) and run to the store. I get back and we watch the game. The next day we go to leave and I'm looking for it. No where to be found, I tear the place apart I'm rifeling through the garbage, everything. I'm frantic. My wife says we have to go, it's probably in the lugage you'll find it at home. I week has gone by after I have torn our luggage apart and called the resort several times. Then one day I'm putting something in the back seat of my wifes car and spot it under the driver's seat. Must have fallen out of my coat pocket and slipped under the seat where I coulnd't see it. I'm terribly releaved until I pick it up to find.... the screen has a scratch the size of the grand canyon in it and then I find the battery won't hold a charge anymore. Well no problem I have it back now. So I call Staples where I bought it and they are currently retriving my records (cuz I lost the recipt) for me to return it (You bet I got that $40 2year swap protection after this was my 3rd palm pilot) and now I'm getting a credit for $380 and I'm going to get an NX60. And finally have a good quality screen! So it turned out well in the end but

Legion, you're going to LOVE the NX60. I just migrated from a ClieT615C (from a Palm IIIxe, from a Palm II, from a REX . . .). The NX60 is about as light and svelte as a brick, but the screen is gorgeous, and the 200mh astounding.

No joke, this weekend, I was visiting my sister in San Diego. She has this freeky flight of stairs leading to her apartment. It's weird because the bottom most step is higher than normal and the top most step is shorter than normal.
It was at night when I said good-bye to her and turned to leave. Somehow I missjudged that top step and FELL down the first two steps. During the fall, I was thrown off-balance, HARD into the wooden hand-rail. Unfortunatly, I was holding my Clie in the hand that got slammed into the rail. I managed to not drop the Clie, but I took out a nice chunk of wood with the corner of the unit (right where the battery door protrudes a little), and smashed my fingers up pretty good.
The first thing I did was (of course, screw the fingers!) check the Clie. It looked HORRIBLE! But turned on and seemed to work O.K.. I had to wait three hours as I drove home to get the darn thing into the light to see th extent of the damage.
An hour later, with a penicil eraser and many cotton swabs, the Clie was 'restored.' The only 'scar,' I couldn't remove was a slight scratch in the plastic hinge and me feeling like the luckiest person in the world for NOT smashing my Clie! :D
