Hello all,
Just wondering if it was possible. If it is what do i need to do to get connected?

Yes, its very possible, if a cell phone has IR, Bluetooth, or data connection it can most likely go onine.
You should tell us what service provider use as some allow net access for free (costs minutes) and others don't. Some cell services don't even allow net access. In this case you'd need a dial-up account to log on.
As for the specifics on how to do this... well someone with more skillz will have to reply. (I use a data cable with my NX70 and T720 on verizon)

At the moment my ISP is iPrimus (Australian provider). I have two methods of connecting to the net.
1. Normal Dialup Server (have this until it 'runs' out)
2. Broadband
The Nokia has an IR port but no bluetooth. In regards to a data cable, i dont think there is one available for this model.
I think ill jump on the Nokia site as well and see whats available.

The service you need the details of is your Cellular Operator. Check their website and see if GPRS or HSCSD is available, as this will allow you to pay by the packet. If it isn't then you're stuck with dial-up. Once you have confirmed that you are able to receive data on your phone then you can start messing around with the 'Connection' and 'Network' selections within the 'Preferences' settings. For more info on the complexities of actually connecting, search for the threads and read as many as you can. Why? Because each one appears to be different depending on 1) your phone make 2) your phone model and 3) your telecom operator. You may also need some uploads to your Clie AND your phone. In ddition it appears that some NX's work with strange settings (eg "Connect to PC" (where it should be "Connect to phone") while others work like you think they should.
Having said all that, life is easier without cables.

ive been on the nokia website and there seems to be some hope. the nokia 8210 has data capabilities and im exploring those avnues at the moment.
things are looking promising. ive done some initial testing with limited success but at least its a start in the right direction.
on a side note. im also developing a 'cradle' whereby the phone can sit inside and line up with the infrared port on the clie. this way you can easily walk around with the clie/phone without breaking connection.

You definitely can.
First create a connection for your phone. Go to preferences and choose connections, click new, write the name of your phone (or your name), choose connect to modem, via infrared. Dialing should be touchtone then click ok.
Then go to network. Create a new one. I use a pre-paid internet dial up connection. If you have a post paid dial up account, that will work too.
Put in the details of your account (username, password) then in the connection setting choose the connection you just created. Then key in the dial phone number of your internet network provider.
You must be able to connect by then. Of course you have to have an internet program on your clie. I use netfront. You can also use avantgo.
Although you are using your phone to connect to the net, data call should be cheaper than voice call. (depends on your cellphone provider)
If you have a GPRS enabled phone, that would be better. But that entails a more complicated connection.
