Just curious, as I will be buying one this week.
Do you use a case? If so, which one?
Front pocket, back pocket, around our neck like a giant dogtag?
Please tell...

Looks geeky, but not that bad.

I've been looking at cases, and the Bellagio is the nicest I've seen so far. However, I'm using an NX80, which doesn't have a whole lot of cases right now. Is there anything that would prevent the NX80 from fitting/working with the Bellagio NX70 case?
Thanks,
Rob

Ditto. I should have been more specific... I am particlarly interested in NX80V users, but all comments are welcome.
I am also intersested in hearing how well NX70 series cases from various manufacturers fit the NX80V, as I need to buy a GOOD case for my NX80V....
Does anyone carry their NX without a case? How well does it "wear"? Sometimes I carry my T615 with just the flip cover it came with in my front pocket, and it holds up well.

For the most part, I keep my NX80 "naked" in my back pocket. For times when I'm tossing it into my laptop bag, I use a Sony sport case, which also has a little pocket in the front that holds my WiFi and CF cards.
While I'm not overly concerned about scuffs/scratches on the case, to date my NX80 has held up remarkably well considering that it spends most of its life unprotected - i.e. no discernable blemishes thus far. That said, I've been told that the finish on the NX80s is more suseptible to marring than the already "soft" NR series, so if you're a stickler for this sort of thing, you'll definitely want to invest in a "full-time" case. I briefly considered getting a real case for it, but given its already large size, adding to its girth would make it too large to fit in my pocket. Besides, the only thing that I'm really worried about is the screen, and that's what the clamshell is for.

I have found a few cases that are specifically designed for the NX80/73, or known to work OK with the NX80/73. But they all seem to be some kind of compromise.
I want a nice thin leather case that offers some kind of protection on all sides/edges, and allows me to hotsync while still in the case. I have found some that are thin and can hotsync in the case, but they leave like 3 sides exposed. Not much proection. Some that are thin and offer good protection, but have extra stuff at the bottom, preventing it from hotsyncing while in the case, et cetera.
I don't think I'm being unrealistic. I understand that you cannot have a paper thin case and then ask that it offer superior protection. But just a nice slim, glove-type case that offers protection on all sides and edges, but doesn't have a half inch of stuffing inside it to make it feel like a pillow.
The Bellagio looks nice and professional. It doesn't have any side support. But I would be willing to overlook that. The only real problem is that the extra little flap on the top makes it a bit thicker and I wouldn't really use it (don't use my PDA case as a wallet). And it's not really designed for the NX80. Not sure what kinds of problems this would create.
I think I'll just have to keep looking for now ...

I like the Sena case, great stable belt clip and snap closure, nice padding should the unthinkable happen and it hits the ground (not yet, after four months of every day usage). I ride my motorcycle with it on my belt and listen to mp3s whilst I cruise with no fear and no problems.
Left front pocket, no case. WiFi card goes in left cargo pocket, MSBT in back pocket. Wish it were all built-in!

I put it in my pocket sometimes but most of the time I use the Targus universal case from Best Buy for under $15. It has a belt loop and a top flap that both attach with velcro. Cheap, functional, handy and protects the NX70V just fine.

Brando flip case in front left pocket, unless I am listening to MP3s on the Tube, in which case I often put the 73 in a shoulder bag so I just have a wire coming out with the headphones on. I hasten to add, the Clie isn't the only thing in the shoulder bag (that would be seriously decadent!!!) - normally means I have a meeting in town so I have work files with me as well.

Front left pocket of my pants. Its in a bright neon orange Sony Clie sports case (so that I can easily distinguish it from all the tech goodies that I have lying around at home).
During transit from home to office and vice-versa, remote and earphones are connected, routed under my shirt and clipped on my shirt's front side pocket. Great for listening to MP3s! If I need to take the unit out, I just unplug the remote.

For me, I use a leather case I bought from a computer mall in HK that cost around US$20. I used to let it lay in my left/right pocket naked, but it was scratched with me absentmindedly put keys and coin together.
Now, it almost always rest in my back pants pocket, and it fit just right, not too heavy to yank your pants down....^_^

oh, forgot to say, mine is NX70v. Honestly, i've been complaining about the size of it. Since it's still pretty "young" and don't wanna buy the UX50 just for the size of it. So if you really thinking buying 80(which I think would be too heavy to put in the back pocket without the drag) you better try it out before making the purchase, cuz, 70 is quite a bit slimer than 80~

purse, backpack, etc. Sometimes in a quart sized ziplock freezer bag if I'm going out in nasty weather or want to protect the finish.
As for the purse, that's a benefit of being female, since my nx70v would never actually fit in my pant pockets. And if it did, it'd pop out when I sit. Sometimes I shove it into an inside breast pocket of a jacket.

I wish Vaja would make an Ivolution case for our NX80s...
that was the greatest case I ever had for my NR70v.
I've emailed them numerous times about it, but they always say its not in their plans to make. Let's flood them with requests!

The 80/73 is thinner than nx70 with the CF slot closed, and the same thickness with it opened.
The nx80 is the same weight as nx70, and nx73 is a tiny bit lighter than nx70.

I just got my bellagio case in today and before I bought it I was thinking the the same thing, then I thought would it still be that beautiful if it was all scratched up. Even though it's covered up, it just like a hot chic in tight leather, although sexier naked still sexy in leather....;)

I only carry it when I'm wearing an outdoor jacket with a closable outer pocket, a dress jacket with an inside pocket, or, very rarely, when wearing cargo pants. Failing that it lives in my briefcase or laptop bag.
I never use a case. It seems to me that would pretty much defeat the whole purpose of the clamshell thing.
I've dropped my NX-60 a couple of times but never very far and never onto a really hard surface. It's never caused a problem.

I've got the sony soft sports case, but rarely use it because it then is too big to put in my pocket. I carry my NX80 normally in a zipped top pocket. One tip, to stop 'pocket fluff' effecting the camera lens, slide the ND Filter to ON to act as a camera lens cover!

i would think you'd get one of those just for kicks, you know to get a laugh out of people.
when i wear jeans, (rarely) i put it in the cargo pocket (can't live without cargo pockets........otherwise in regular cloth pants nx goes in my top left pocket (but i'm thinking of doing something about it cause the front of the back of the screen is getting marks on it but i dont know from what......and memorysticks go in the cargo pocket across from my cell, (i've been ripped off too many times to use my right top pocket...........5 phones, mp3 player and a cd player on the belt........i just have bad luck with that pocket
oh and the nx is the perfect weight, either that or all of my pockets are designed right to where i barely feel it when i'm running
of course when i sit down the clie just kinda falls out onto the seat in a lot of my pants..........thats not a cool thing, happens with everything though, i hate that.

i bike with my clie every morning, and it took me actually dropping it onto the street to realize if you put it in your pocket and then twist the pocket down while your sitting, it creates a bottle cap for your stuff basically, its cool, now i don't lose anything cause if it sits on my lap in my pocket the momentum from the road will push the stuff in the seat.
in the morning i have to have my remote going through my jacket cause in texas its getting to the low 40s in the morning and i'm not used to that, so the wire has to goto my pocket through my sleeve, so if it falls out of that pocket i'm screwed, i got lucky it landed flat and slid last time it fell i might not be so lucky next time. (it actually didn't scratch at all.........)

I was really looking forward to a Bellagio NX80V case after reading about their great customer service and case design, but had a horrible experience with them... Ordered a color case at the beginning of October. Two weeks to get the materials in; fine. In two weeks, sent an e-mail and was told that they would inform me when they shipped it out in a few weeks; that was fine, too. Also asked about embossing around the turn of the month while I was waiting, though I decided I didn't need it. By last week, however, I had been waiting for over a month and sent an e-mail inquiry that was never returned; this week I sent an e-mail telling them I would cancel my order and spread the word about their poor communication and customer service. To be fair, I did recieve an apologetic e-mail that promised to ship it overnight and that Bellagio accepted full responsibility. The very next day, however, I recieved an e-mail blaming customs, my inquiry about embossing, and stated that they would send it by 2 day air. I really wanted this case, but am fed up with the odious cusomter service, and plan to cancel my order and send it back. The wait and bad treatment just aren't worth the case and price I'm paying for it. =( I know this sounds severe, but I will post the e-mails to back it up if anyone's curious...

Case Logic PDA case which requires a piece of velcro to hold the PDA in place. Protects the PDA quite nicely but no belt clip. So, to make up for that, I also have a Sampsonite camera case with belt clip that holds the case logic case quite snugly. Been dropped more than once with no damage at all since the pda is packed in like a canned sardine!
But that, combined with a cell phone and some times a Gerber knife pouch makes me feel like I'm wearing Batman's utility belt!

I ordered the Brandy / Blue Case and it is absolutely fabulous.
I know they make great cases, Protox. Maybe you should give them the benefit of the doubt this time.

Elyse, I think giving them 1 and a half months is more than reasonable... the only reason I did business with them was because I had read about their good quality and customer service in the posts. Keep in mind I ordered this in the beginning of October:

We have received your order for a Bellagio Case.We are currently out of stock of the NX80 in Nubuck.Alternatively, we do have this case available in Black. We expect to have the Nubuck available within the next two weeks. We will certainly notify you as it becomes available.

Thanks for your email.
I have read your initial correspondence to you and must apologize for this unnecessary delay. For some reason, this seemed to have slipped through the cracks. Please accept my apologies for this unusual occurrence. We will be sending your case tomorrow via UPS Overnight Service at our expense.
As you know, our Customer Service reputation is excellent and we do everything possible to ensure our customer's satisfaction. In this case, we accept full responsibility and will rectify immediately.
We appreciate your business and will email you the tracking number.
Sincerely,

Which got my hopes up until the next e-mail:
Date: Thu, 20 Nov 2003 16:28:19 -0500
Dear ,
We had a problem in receiving the quality of the Nubuck leather for the cases, but the we were also waiting for your decision on the logo that you required. The case without a logo is being shipped today, since the inventory was delayed in customs.
We will ship the as 2 day air, as compensation for the time you have waited for our product.
Please accept our apologies on this occasion.
Best Regards,
Janette
Never mind Richard's message about overnight, or that I had told her nearly three weeks ago I wasn't interested in embossing (I'll spare you another round of cut-and-paste). Haven't heard from them since or recieved the package. Another fellow in another thread also said he had the same problems I did, so I know it's not just me. I spent days searching before deciding on their case and really had my heart set on it, but it's simply not worth this poor treatment.

I think one of the points of the clamshell is you should be able to carry this around without a case.
I carry my NX80 in a left front pocket without anything else. After 5 months, it shows two major wear issues:
1) The CF slider came off awhile back. I am not a regular user of this slot, but I'll still get it fixed before the warranty runs out.
2) There are two plastic pieces where the coating has come off, the door to the battery and rge base of the screen. The top corners now show the plastic.
I've been similarly carrying my Samsung Sprint phone, which is over 2 years old, and no problems.
I think the rumors that Sony's CLIE division is small is true. This device just doesn't have the lasting power of a Sony.
The biggest question -- should I use my BB to upgrade to a Palm device, which will still look good with normal use after 12 months?

i work for a shipping case company, and we do a lot of custom work, i have a hard sided carry case that has a custom foam interior. The foam has cavities for the the NX, a WiFi card a CF modem, the Ac brick and cable. Underneath is storage for a phone cable and a stoway keyboard. The whole thing measures 9"x6"x4". I have a PC replacement in a case thats smaller than a lunch box! I have a picture if anyone wants to see.
