Pretty impressive results for this last one! The SD card is almost twice as fast as a Magic Gate MS and faster than an MS-PRO. Wow!
:p
I don't have a regular CF card to test though.
BTW VFSMark:
http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/vfsmark.shtml
wow, I knew the SD were fast! but thought the SD-CF adaptor could be the bottle neck & cause the speed to decrease on the CLIE. I have one 256MB SD with the SD-CF adaptor sitting just right in front of my face. :p
But I suppose the 128MB SD might run a little faster compared to the 256MB SD (when using through the SD-CF adaptor). Since I couldn't get the 256MB SD to run with Eruware on my NX70, only the 3-bit driver got it running. (oh, & I think Pelaca's driver should also work well, though I haven't tried it actually.) :D
Debating with myself whether to run to the shops to get a 1GB CF card right now.
Hmmm........
I won! Off I go then. :D
congradulations to a soon to be 1G CF owner! :D
Damn! Everywhere in Kyoto has sold out of 1GB CFs!
So I got a pretty good deal on an IO-Data 512MB 20x CF card.
This thing is fast! Check out the results.

That CF card is pretty fast!

Be careful, VFS marks may not tell the whole story and has been found not to be all that reliable. Better to do timed experiments instead by copy data back and forth manually. There you will get more of a real world expectation in it's actual use.;)
Yep! Actually I'm having probs with a few apps - Clie's been pausing quite a bit. Backup man won't use the CF card at all. Any ideas. Def slower than the MS Pro and seems unstable. Is the same for everyone?

Can you post the brand name of the converter?

VFSMark is a highly suspect.
The final 'VFSMark' number is statistically bogus.
The individual tests are generally ok. Two of the more useful numbers are the File Read and File Write percentages. The SD card you mention has a much faster write time which is good, but still much slower than a fast CF card.

BTW: If you want to see some crazy numbers:

you're not the only one, just about everybody with a CF, (just my personal thought), has the same issues with CF Cards playback. MP3s are perfectly OK, except when trying to playback movies in *.MQV format. I use CliePet's 3-bit still on my NX70 & it's sweet! :p

Sure - It's a Pretec CompactTRIO. It handles SD/MMC/MS cards and compared with my new CF card it works flawlessly. No probs what so ever. It is about 2/3 longer than a regular CF card though which makes it stick out quite a bit.

I suppose so - I intend to only use it for MP3s and Movies anyway. It would have been nice to be able to do a backup to the card as well though. Seems to work fine with MP3s and the data import from my PC is much more stable than with an MS-PRO which occasionally locks up in the middle of importing.

You can still do initial backups to the CompactFlash Card, (eg, everytime you make a minor change or added a new application), but you just can't do recovery from them.
You'd still need to do a recovery from MS first, then once the CF is recognized then you can use your CF to do the recovery though.... :p
Well, to cut a long story short, I was having numerous problems with this IO-Data 20X CF card so I took it back and exchanged it for a regular speed TDK one. :(
The TDK one works flawlessly. I can now back up to the CF and all applications see it and use it fine. It's heaps faster than the IO-Data one too. There must have been some incompatibility with it. I'm very happy now. :D
Stay away from those 20X rated cards I think that the Clie can't use them fully yet. It wouldn't format for example. I couldn't even change the name and McFile etc kept giving me read/write errors as well as pauses sometimes up to a minute long. MP3s and movies worked fine though. Weird eh?
The TDK works beautifully.

Actually I have a question for you regarding Album Swap 1.1 which I just started using. I am using method 2 and at the initial swap it re-arrange the order alphabetically - is this normal? I then re-created the original order via a playlist. Will it keep this order? Is that what you mean via 2+1 on your site?
Great program BTW :)

Wow, that's pretty impressive for a standard speed card.

Yeah! It feels quick too! Wonder why it's rated as a regular speed card cos it's obviously not. :D Says something on the back about being a CF - V Series. Anyone know what that means?
