Do you think that the UX50 is worth $700? Do you think that the UX40 is worth $600? Do you think that the extended battery is worth $140? Will it last long? How long will it take for the UX to pay for itself? How long will the extended battery take to pay for itself? Why is Bluteooth so expensive?

Tax write off not "right" off. :)

If you're a businessman then sure you can take it off your taxes.

I'll charge it against income, which is approximately the same thing as Jack's tax write off. And the increased productivity, which in my case specifically means quicker turn-around in email and other written communications to associates on a different continent, will probably result in a similar amount in increased revenue within three months. I have already migrated to a bluetooth enabled phone with GRPS in anticipation of this, set up bluetooth in my home, and done some far geekier things that belong on a telephone board rather than a PDA board.

The primary value of the UX50 will be increased responsiveness on my part. That should help increase my income without increasing my work. But if I were currently "between assignments", the UX50 would still have a similar ROI, in the sense that I could, from virtually anywhere, continue to actively respond to inquiries as to my availability. It was a dedication to such quick turn-around that got me both of my last two engagements.

Incidently, the primary win for me in the UX50 over my current setup (an older Palm and the new phone which replaced an 8290) is the improvement of the email capability - especially with the keyboard - and the ability to implement larger applications.

Don't mind me, I alway mess up my write with my left hand.

I wrote of my NR. I use it for taking notes in meetings when I don't have my Powerbook and a portable portfolio to name a few.

I'm a gadget junkie. The UX will fix my habit for about 8 months. I forsee the day when I'll no longer boot my home PC, who needs it with net access via Wifi and my UX! :D I still have my laptop for serious PC work! I pretty much resigned myself to spending around $1000 for this baby plus all the various accessories (Bluetooth PC card, Case, MS Pro, Bluetooth GPS) maybe an extra battery if it seems to be needed after a couple of months.
