i was curious if there is a way to communicate with another tg50 via bluetooth with some specific application or something. i have a friend who wants to get a tg50 and he was wondering if we would be able to communicate... kind of like instant messenger... like during class or something with bluetooth so we would have some decent range if we needed it. any help regarding the subject would be appreciated.. thank

Sadly it doesn't look as though you can see here (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17971&highlight=bluechat) although I don't know if these guys had run the bluetooth update which may help.

If you are able to use a cellphone though Verichat is the ideal application and allows you to chat with all your friends on most instant messenger platforms.

Sorry I meant if you have a cellphone AS WELL.

The application is loaded on the clie and the cellphone is used to connect it to the Internet.

Reversi that comes on the TG50 CD will do the job for chatting. If somebody can snag BlueChat from the Tungsten T/T|2, then we'd have a better app for it (why didn't sony provide it??)

I tried using bluechat from my friend's TT, and unfortunately I couldn't get it to work. I think it's a PALM specific device.

But this was about 6months ago, maybe the program has been updated, I could be wrong.

hmmm... did you try it with another clie or with the TT?
did the program not run? or did it just not communicate?

set up your PC so it will share an internet connection over the internet, and use your TG50 to connect to the net thru you PC. Then you can use Verichat. Problem with this is that it limits your range to 10m from your PC. Also you could use a BT cell phone and use GPRS dataconnect to get to the net and use verichat. That'll eat your minutes though :)

hmmmm, companies love to screw us over, anyone wanna provide internet for a flat rate no minutes or aol crap? AND NO PHONE REQUIRED, i would love to be anywhere in the world and not have to worry about "hmm do i have range here? how expensive will it be?, oh do they have wifi SWEET" id rather not be like that

Bluechat is licensed from Colligo networks and they have a similar program on free trial on their website here (http://www.colligo.com/products/bluetoothforpalm/). They will only support Palm devices so it probably wont work but someone might want to give it a go?

Well, Yahoo Messenger 5.6 allows you to log in if you have Cingular and instant message that way. So, I use my TG50 Bluetooth connection to have my T68i log in. When I receive messages, the SMS chime goes off (man, I wish I could make it louder). Hit send/receive from the TG50 SMS app and you get your messages. Then you can simply respond and send a message back via BT to the T68i. Pretty sweet. When you log on, it tells you which freinds are logged on and also automatically logs you out of any other computers that you are logged in to .

I have tried it both with a Tungsten and another TG50, and it's a no go. Sorry guys.

Sure it is! I use AIM over Bluetooth (RFCOMM over PPP aka the LAN access profile to a Belkin Bluetooth dongle and via SPP to a Sony Ericsson T68i). Works just fine.
