I'm having real trouble using cf cards with my new NX73. The handheld recognises the card and the files seem to tranfer o.k. (pictures and music) but they will not play back. Do I need to install software onto the card or will this be done automatically?
I've looked through some of the posts regarding cards and I don't really feel I understand what to do, I must be thick or something. Can anyone help?

Are the multimedia files in their correct folders according to Sony?

They have to be stored the same way as it would be on the memory stick.

Did you install the hacked apps, as the existing Sony multimedia apps in ROM are not multicard aware.

No, where do I find hacked apps?

Thanks.

Karl, check out the "Compact Flash" forums, which are dedicated to unlocking the full potential of the CF slot.

In the meantime, to help get you started, visit the following link -- http://snow.prohosting.com/cfutil/ -- and download the "Audio Player 1.1" and "Movie Player 1.1" files. Once you unzip them, install the applications onto your 73 via HotSync (be sure to disable the "Background Play"option in your existing Audio Player application, though! Once you've done this, your CF slot will be fully compatible with these applications.

For further assistance, check out the CF forums. Pretty much every NX/NZ user has had to go through what you're going through right now, so the answers you seek should be contained in the threads there...

Did you just installed the AudioPlayer & MoviePlayer with selectable functions? I think you will also need an extra patch to free up the CF Slot, just as acraniotes has mentioned, you'll need to find those in the CompactFlash forum.
There should be a patch from pelaca to unlock the CF Slot entirely. :p

Sometimes, my NX won't be recognized by my computer either -- the "/E" drive will show up in Windows Explorer, but when I select it, it tells me to "insert disk." When this happens, all I have to do is take the NX out of its cradle and immediately drop it back it. Then, like magic -- poof! -- its recognized.

Try that and see what happens.

PS - I didn't need any additional drivers from Pelaca -- just the updated AudioPlayer and MoviePlayer apps.
