I know its a simple basic question but...........
I just bought a new NR, replacing Clie SJ30.
How do I transfer everthing over to the new NR?
Thanks!

You should be able to drop it into you cradle, and hotsync, it will prompt you to choose an ID and it should restore everything from your SJ to the NR. Welcome to the NR club.

Yes, welcome. You will not be unhappy with the purchase. You will find these forums invaluable for helping set up your NR exactly the way you want it.

Couple more................it will transfer everything in the memory stick as well?
And when I Hot Sync the SJ30 now?
What should to change? (the wife is getting that one)
I use Backup Buddy too, if that helps.
Thanks, and great forum!!
Great people here!
Looking forward to my new NR!!
I get it sometime this week.

hmm, not 100% on the multiuser thing but but after you have the NR up and running with your data/apps you should hard reset the sj and then hot sync it, when it prompts you for an id, give your wife her own and that should do it.
On the memory stick issue I'm no sure what you are looking for. I assume you are using the option in backup buddy that backs up your memory stick as well as your RAM. I've never been able to restore with it but I would just swap memory sticks with her and keep your old one. If you are looking to upgrade to a new MS (128s are a requirement) then you are better served using MSimport to copy and move everything, it's significantly faster than hotsyncing and you know you have an exact copy. I just did a MS upgrade so I know that works like a charm.

Oh, BBVFS!!! My top of the list must have program. I don't think that BBVFS is device specific, so you should be able to restore a copy of your old device to the new one. I did it when I traded my old NR70V for a new one. I'm not sure if you can restore between models. Wait a while and I'm sure someone else will post with more insight.

UH...........ok sorry
Thanks pigburger and medcat99!
Stupid me, I didn't even think about just switching out the MS!!
Anyone here switch to the NR70 from another Clie and post their feelings about doing so?

Oh, and to avoid the inevitable question you will ask:
IF your clie appears to be dead.... Check the hold switch on the left side and push it downward.

LOL!
Glock, you might want to search some of the other threads on the NR, particularly the paper trick one and the NX apps one, just so you get some ideas of what you can do with it and possible problems you might come across.

Be sure to check out the NX app link and read it through a few times. If you get it right it rocks. If you miss a step it's nothing but a nightmare. Congrats on the new NR.

I upgraded from a Clie n610c to an NR70v.
The first thing I did was do a complete copy of my Backup Buddy Backup folder using MSImport to my PC.
Second thing I did was copy my hotsync folder in my
c:\program files\sony handheld\<whatever username> to another directory as a backup.
I then just picked the files to restore from my memory stick that looked familiar (Certain .PRC and .PDB files) and would try them out afterwards. After I entered in a few serial numbers, and figured I had everything just right and perfect, I hotsynced.
Worked like a charm, and my Palm seemed to be cleaner afterwards, with much fewer 1kb .pdb files left in memory.
