Congrats!

How big is that BT-light actually?

Really big and really bright, kind of like a strobe light. Looks kinda cool though. Flashing when idle, solid(steady) when connected.

could you open the device and check whether the bluetooth is just a platine that could be plugged in (like into my nx80) ?

i personnaly find that big BT light annoying .. if flashing the clie then looks one of those "wanna-be-cool-kids-toys" ... I wish there was only the small light blinking, and actually I'm thinking which scotch tape to use in order to make the big blue light covered :-)

I had the same thought.  ;)

Actually, what I really want is someone to come up with a hack to switch the bluetooth LED and the power LED controls (a software hack that is; I would be too afraid to play around with the wiring to do it).  Right now the LED alarm (same as the power LED) is too small to notice even when flashing, and the bluetooth LED is huge and too noticable, especially since whenever it is enabled (will be always for me) the whole huge blue light blinks, and draws everyone's attention to it.  That's the correct behavior for an alarm, not for a status light!  Does anyone know if there are software/OS hooks that can control the power LED and bluetooth enabled lights?  I would pay good money for such a hack!

If you look at it from the top, it's about 0.4" wide by 0.8" deep/long.  If you look from directly in front you can only see maybe 0.2" of that 0.8" length.  It's not so much the size that bothers me (it actually looks pretty cool when constantly lit up blue), it's the blinking whenever bluetooth is active but the device isn't connected.  It is WAY too noticeable, and looks like it's some urgent alarm going off...

Wanna take a picture of just how bright and blue it is? ;) (I don't want those stupid sony pics...I want a real pic :p)

OT: Does anyone know how I can import the NX73v w/ BT into the US?

You can get it at microwarehouse UK -- you have to call them and ask to speak to their export department. But it's not cheap!

Well I have had the Euro NX73 since more than a month and it's great, but you are right the blue light is too attentional, it does not bother me but my friends always tease me...
Would be great for alarms, but I am afraid it a neach request.
I used to switch it off with BT Toggle but I found out it interpheres with the right functioning of email autocheck (both Snapper and Versamail) so I removed it and now I stay with the light on (even if I often use WIFI instead of BT)

So, when driving in the car with BT GPS I need to cover the BT light, otherwise I can run into the police and I can get a ticket for having a blue cop light in the car (illegal in Holland)? They prolly want to search for a siren, too.

WOW! I've just spent the last couple of days reading reviews of the NX70 & 80 and then finally rejecting them as the deciding factor was the lack of BT.

I couldn't believe my luck when I noticed a summary of this thread on the main page of Cliesource & found out that the UK actually get an enhanced version WITH Bluetooth!

I am now back in the market for one! ....is there a BT NX83 on the way though?

Also - how well does it link to Bluetooth phones? I own a Sony P800 & would love to be able to SMS and Xfer files between the two of them (& surf via P800 GPRS).

Is all of this possible?

This is the final dealbreaker for me!

Well I use both BT and WIFI.
I used BT with Ericsson T39 and now Siemens S55.
You can do all what you mentioned, with no problem at all.
Only if you use WIFI as well, you need to be more careful as usually the wifi connection gets garbled.
I had a NR70 with BT memory stick and the improvement is really huge (I was tired of having the BT MS always in my hands.

Drat, I wish I had known earlier!  Thanks anyway -- maybe the next time I need some Sony or Palm gear imported from Europe, I'll ask you  ;)

That light would drive me crazy unless someone wrote a hack to turn it off. I have a teeny tiny one on my T68i which I finally had to put a strip of gaff tape over because it was incredibly distracting when I wear it on my belt (and I can't put it in my pocket because the ^#%#* keypad lock never works). Just the little grain-of-rice sized light on that thing looks like something you'd land an aircraft on, I can't image how it is with the bigger one on the Clie. At least if the Clie were black it would look better with the gaff tape over it :D. Well I guess I shouldn't be so sorry that my NX80 doesn't have built-in BT.

Ah... the T68i. Yep it's like a mini Christmas-tree when BT is on. The keylock works fine, except for the fact that when you press and hold the NO/power button for more then 20 seconds while keylocked, it simply turns off. Very irritating indeed. Can easily put in a top 10 list of irritations.

Orol (or anyone else with a NX), can you suggest a good belt case for the NX73V? I'm looking for one that is just a holder (so you can pull the Clie out of it, not have it encased all the time) and one that doesn't have any velcro.

Rob, try this case

you can add a pocket for CF or MS

rob: I have TG50 but has got the same "issue" with the BT light .. it's too light .. therefore I replied :-)
and I actually don't like the NX clamshell design .. therefore I picked up TG50 .. (plus BT is a must for me)
regarding cases .. on I used hard cases on all my clies :-) leather cases are usually more expensive and don't offer that much protection as hard cases do

Those look pretty good except I don't want a velcro closure because they make too much noise (everyone stops and stares at me during meetings if I take out my Clie) -- I would prefer one with a magentic clasp.  Do you know if they have an e-mail address I can contact them at?  The web page only seems to have a phone number.

errrrrr, it was one of the many electronic shops in Tottenham Court Road, just round the corner from Virgin Megastore. The shop I bought mine from was opposite the Sony Center. Best thing to do is go into each and haggle, try to get the best deal out of 'em. I got a car charger at 50% with mine. Don't try to get too much because they all have rougly the same prices and know how far each other will go to get a sale. So don't go in and say "The bloke next door is doing it for £25 with a wifi card thrown in"

Good luck
