Hi,

got an NR70 with a 256mb Lexar MS that I'm trying to download some .mp3 files to. Some have transferred over fine, but a couple of them (ones I downloaded of the net) won't play - Audioplayer keeps coming up with an "invalid file/copyright" error.

So, I tried using Sonic Stage - but that won't even recognise my Clie/MS at all - same problem: keeps telling me it's not an authorised devise... Interestingly, the files will still play fine through Sonic stage on my computer - they just won't transfer to my Clie.

Any ideas?

I assume the 256MB MS is MS Sellect 2x128MB since you said you have NR, which won't work with MS Pro. The AudioPlayer, I think, requires 44.1 KHz sampling frequencies. Does it match with that of MP3s?

I think, Sonic Stage is only good for ATRAC, which works only with the Magic Gate (white) MS.

Don't use Sonic Stage for this operation. As Sony owns Sonic Stage, they purposly make it unavailable to utilize any of the blue memory sticks for mp3 conversion. You need to purchase a white memory stick (Magic Gate) which costs more $.
To get around this and utilize blue sticks, download music as usual and convert it using dbpoweramp music converter (available on the web for free at http://www.dbpoweramp.com/). Or if you have the CD and want to make it into mp3 for your clie use CDgrab (same website).
I got this from info previously posted in a similar forum on this site.

Saerdahl - thanks for the suggestion of dbpoweramp - seems a much simpler and resource-friendly programme. Hasn't really worked on clearing the problem though...!

DanT - I am using a 2x128mb card - I have been able to save other audio files onto both sides, and they play fine - but they were ripped from a CD using iTunes at home, then transferred to my Clie here on my PC at work. Maybe that had something to do with it... I'll recheck the KHz on these 'net files. Thanks for the tip
