I haven't a clue as to how to do this, but am just curious as to *why* you'd want to connect a Clie through a cable modem.

That's easier, there is nothing special you need to do, just run the Clie Mail setup program and it should configure outlook to send and receive your emails as a part of your regular hot sync. As long as your PC is already connected, there is nothing special you need to do, the hot sync program will retrieve your mail and send mail once your configure the Clie Mail program. I was wondering if you were going to try to browse the web! :)

Sounds as if you need the Desktop software and the Hot Sync Manager to get your Clie connected. You might try to email Sony and let them know you bought a used SJ30 and are looking for the CD with the desktop software. In the interim, try Palm;s desktop and Hot Sync conduit. They might work with the SJ30. You can download them off the net at Palm's web site.

I've got an SJ-22 and I double checked my hot sync manager and my desktop. They are both Palm version 4.1, so Sony is using the same software as Palm for the Hot Sync conduits on the SJ22, and the 22 is just an updated version of the SJ30, so my guess is it should work fine for you.

I also use the Palm Desktop software because I think it gives you more options. I think he still needs software for his SJ to interact with Outlook though. I'm not sure what the software is called for the SJ but with my visor you need, I think, Intellisync.

Intellisync cannot sync with my SJ30 because i dont have driver for SONY CLIE MASS STORAGE. exmaple: when i lunch MS IMPORT from my SJ30, win xp detects Sony Clie and ask me to install the driver.....well i dont have that driver.

Oh. I think you need intellisync or another program for the pal desktop to interact with Outlook though.

Yes, you will need Intellisync, or IntellisyncLite to link with Outlook, although PocketMirror from Chapura works equally as well. I am not sure why Intellisync is looking for the Mass Storage driver, as there is no need for it- the driver is for MSImporty, and MS access. Intellisync does not touch the MS at all. Have you tried a google search for the necessary drivers, or tried contacting Sony directly? I am not sure as to the legality of this, but it might be possible to get an .iso of the CD through a p2p system. This would certainly solve your problems, as it would give you the CD!
With regard to the initial enquiry, I think that the following link might be able to help- it is from Shaun McGill's PDANews24 site:

Hope that this helps.
