the other day i changed the screensaver. it was a total pain because of the tacky residue left by the previous screensaver. the resulting lint, dust, and gummy junk made for a mediocre surface.

what is the best way to clean the screen surface of all that gunk?

thanks

take a really sharp nail and scrape it off. And if that doesn't work soak your clie in water.

All jokes aside, I've used glass cleaner on mine with no problems before. I won't be responsible for anything bad that happens if you try it, but I've had no ill effects.

I use isopropyl alcohol wipes, and so far, so good. They dry off quickly at room temperature, and are found everywhere at work - a hospital. I suggest going to you local blood bank and donating blood in exchange for a couple of wipes, and see if they can throw in a box of orange juice.

Very cool idea!!!! The wipes and the donating blood (ha, ha). Seriously though, I like the idea of wiping the screen with the alcohol pads. I will try that the next time I change screen protectors.

Rubbing alcohol will often 'craze' or fog plastics and similar surfaces. Sometimes you can restore the surface after this with Rain-X or a similar glass treatment.

You can try 'Un-Do' or a similar adhesive remover, but most of them also damage plastic somehow.

If this were me, I would first try to 'erase' the gunk with a soft gum eraser or a 'rubber cement' eraser. Often, you can kind of 'roll up' the stickum residue this way and have it ball off.

Once you get it off, toss the rest of whatever screen protector you were using and switch to one with better adhesion, such as the Brando- or to a non-adhesive version, like the G2.

Only problem with alcohol is that it "sucks" moisture out of plastics and will dull them over time.
