hi. so sorry to come up with a possible redundant thread, but since it seems most of the threads are not yet up...

what's the best case for NR, in terms of protection? my clie has suffered a bad fall before, and has caused LCD problems. but i had it fixed and now i want to make sure it doesn't happen again.

i'm gearing towards the innopocket metal case. but will it be able to cushion it should another accident happen?

thanks :)

I bought the Metal Case and was NOT really satisfied.

The main disadvantages I see are:

1) It doesn't protect somehow if it falls down (= no shock absorption)
2) Falling down => the case opens, the Clie jumps out. Ie the Clie is NOT *really* fix within it. If you wanna fix it permanently then I was faced with the problem of not being able to take it out for a Reset.
3) The closing mechanism is not that good, i.e. opens too simply.

The case itself looks real slick and cute. Also with the access for MS, Headphones, etc. Protection for scratches obivously done. If the inside would provide more 'buffer' material, better keeping in mechanism (like velcro fastener) and locking-mechanism it would be absolutely fine.

So, I personally still stick to the case of my old IIIc, which is a Gore-Tex-material and makes the NR little bit bulky, but safe.

My recommendation is Covertec leather case. It not just looks, feels (and smells) good, but also protects Clié pretty well. You can also store two MS cards and a stylus. As the case is slightly broader on sides, it protects Clié well in case of fall. But anyway, try rather harder not to drop it ...

I love my Sena Case. I have the blue/black combo. Very nice. :) Plus it has pockets for Memory Sticks.

My advice is Covertec Leather Case. Very cheap compare to other leather cases out there.

I loved my Innopocket hardcase for a while, till I started dropping it because it's so smooth and the case opens book-style. Also you can't plug the headphone remote controller without doing something to the plug. So now I am again on the seach.

I've got the tan leather Covertec - looks great and is v functional except for two problems:

1. You can't leave the bluetooth MS in and close the case as the case closes over the top and the BT MS sticks out a bit.

2. I also use my case as a wallet and I find the tops of my credit cards (held in the top of the case) rub against and scratch my screen - but I used to have this problem with my old Palm Vx and it's book-style case.

Besides those two points (which I doubt any other case resolves), the Covertec is great and represents value for money when compared with other brands (although, to be fair, other I haven't tried other cases).

E&B is very cool, but I don't like the velcro closure. I can live with it though.

wow, thanks for the advise.
i probably won't get a hard case anymore, though i'm not sure which of the brands you mentioned is available locally. thanks though! :) will get a leather case instead!

Yep. I agree with others here. I have a Innopocket hard case, Covertec, and a Vaja I got with a special I couldn't refuse around Xmas time. I'd recommend the Covertec hands down. Hard case drops too easily and pops open. Vaja is top notch but very expensive normally and is narrower than the Covertec so the sides are more vulnerable. Covertec is really very good in all catagories IMHO.

Is there a case that stays on the NR70 even in tablet mode?

IE: Lets you turn it and close it again without having to take the case off?

Instead of a case, I used a small chain link to attach a key ring to the lanyard attach point, and I loop a black lanyard around my belt loop and hook it to the key ring.

The lanyard is shorter than my legs, so the NR cannot hit the ground.

To me, the lack of a case is a big advantage in terms of size and easy access.

What he said. I too bought a Covertec after buying an Innopocket metal case and not being satisfied with it. I use the Covertec everyday and don't have any thing negative to say about it.

It seems like the Covertec case is the way to go, but is there a belt clip style available? Unless I'm missing something in their website, I don't believe they make this style. The only other case that interests me is the Sena case because it has a belt clip style and no velcro closure. What's the quality like on the Sena case?

Thanks,

Jeff

Very happy with my Covertec. Don't know about belt clip, since it wasn't something I was interested in.

Contrary to what others have said, I LOVE my Deluxe Metal case from Innopocket. Granted, this is the ONLY case I've used so far, but I'm very happy with it up to this point. The MAIN reasons I like it are, it just looks SWEET.

And when the case is open, I have the inside of the front of the case to set my Moto T720 while I'm surfing the web on my Clie. The two devices, plus the case, all compliment each other very well.

While I'm sure the other cases are very nice as well, and possibly even better, I just wanted to let you know that not ALL Innopocket case owners are dissappointed with it!

Good to hear that people are also happy with the Sena case. If you carry memory sticks in its slots, do they put pressure on the screen when in tablet mode? I will be most likely keeping the NR70V in the case with the screen exposed and am wondering if the memory sticks will do anything to the screen.

It's such a tiny bother to twist and close the Clie cover, I never intentionally close the Covertec over an exposed screen. It's like having double protection with the Clie and Covertec both closed.

Rob,

I agree with you, but how has your Clie held up to the twisting? I had the opportunity to borrow a friend's NR70V for a few weeks before I bought my own. Comparing the two, her Clie does not flip and fold as smoothly as mine does. It's only because I had two NR70Vs to compare side by side that I noticed; I can't recall if hers was like that ever since I borrowed it or if it has "degraded" due to the numerous flip and fold instances since I had it.

I'm looking for a new case myself. I liked my Xigma case about six months ago, but now I can't get my Clie to to say in the case. I'm looking at the Sena Case but still unsure. Any other good ones out there?
