Hi,
Has anyone bought the Sony leather case for the UX yet? I'd be very interested to hear how the size of the cased Clie is (can you measure how wide, heigh, thick it is?). Also, what kind of pockets does it have inside (credit cards, bills, etc?). Pictures would be great!
Thanks!
-James (anxiously awaiting UX release in the US)...

Nobody has the case yet? It's such a big part of the whole form-factor of my PDA, that I haven't ordered a UX yet due to not knowing how big the thing is going to be when it's in the case with my credit cards and drivers licence.
Maybe the case isn't available outside of the US...

That's an option I suppose Sonicboy. Still, since my Palm Pilot Professional, I've kept my Palm in my wallet with my credit cards and drivers license, etc. I'd like to do that with my UX too... I'll take something other than leather if it does the job.
I'm vegitarian, so no leather goes well by me!

I dont use a case but I give it rights to my whole left pocket (plus a train card and maybe candy) and my wallet has taken the right and my phone has been left at home cause I that thing is damn annoying, speshly when it rings... anyway, left pocket used to be wallet + coins and keys and right was phone but now I have cycled
so yeah, I think the UX is a too fat for your leather wallet..
but on the other hand its PHAT TOO! :D

Thanks for the info Sonicboy. How is the UX case holding up to life in the pocket! Is the case getting marked?

OK. Well, maybe I'll look at getting a serparate wallet then. Not crazy about that, but maybe I should... I certainly use mine too, it was just very convenient to have one thing to carry not two...

In case anyone is interested, I found the following cases from the Sony Japan site :
Sony Site JP (http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Qnavi/Main/CAT00012026_01.html)

Wow...very nice cases....How much are they though? Pity they are all from Japan. Would definetely order one if they were sold in the US.

There's also that case mentioned in the news on Cliesource. Looks interesting too, but I didn't see credit card slots on there. More of a case, not a wallet.
I just ordered my UX-50 this morning! Harmony Computers in NY. Anyone else ordering from there? I was going to get it from Sony, but they added sales tax on. I'd rather get out of giving more of my money to the government... Harmony don't, plus it's cheaper from them. Hope they're OK - they had a 4 out of 5 rating on eopinions.

I would like something to hold the UX50 which is either small enough to slip in my pocket or has a loop which will allow me attach the case to my belt.
Harmony is showing the best price so far. However, they seem to also have the highest shipping costs...Do they also give the free case which is offered by Sony Style?

I don't think they offer the case, eskasi. The shipping is expensive, but I just looked at the totals - $650 from Harmony, $750 from Sony (case included).
I want to check out the cases before I get one, so I wasn't too worried about not getting it included from Sony.
I'm sure those Japanese ones I posted will be available in the US once the UX is released.

You all might want to be careful of that Harmony place. Another user here said he's heard of many unhappy people who've dealt with them in the past..usually because they take longer than promised to ship product (even when it's not preordered status stuff) and give one excuse or another for the delay from what I read. Also, I'm very wary of any company that lowballs their price and then makes it up in the ambiguous "shipping and handling" category. For example, to ship 2nd day to Hawaii, where I am, is $49.95. Well, as I work in IT and order stuff from all over the mainland for our company, I can tell you that something as small as the UX50 doesn't cost $50 to ship 2nd day to Hawaii from NYC.
They lowball so that they come out the lowest when you use those pricing search engines like pricegrabber.com, so I would go through the whole order process to the point where you get the final cost from a number of places, because after s&h, someone else might be less expensive. For something like this, I would rather spend the "extra" $25 or so (because for me, it comes out to something like $675 from Harmony after "s&h"), and preorder it from sonystyle. At least I know who I'm dealing with and it's not with one of these NYC camera/electronics discount houses of dubious integrity.
