convert JPG to pdb

How do you convert all the nice background images that are in jpg to a pdb that zlauncher can use?

I am on a Mac

I don't think u need to do that , Zlauncher can see the JPG files and use them as backgrounds. Use MS Import to put the JPG files in the Palm/Programs/Zlauncher/BackImage Directory on your MS.

You may be a smidgeon mistaken twinkle. Some depends on the type of handheld you are using. Many of the Sony Clie line can use .jpg images because of software on the handheld which can convert the .jpg images automatically.

I've found there are many users here on cliesource who do not own clies, but know this is a great site for information and help.

There is a library one can load on their non-clie handheld which can give them this ability to use .jpg images.

However with most using handhelds such as T|T and the rest of the tungsten line, as well as many other handhelds..... using .jpg images don't work. Several of the handhelds either do not even load them to the handheld/ms ... or they will 'convert them' during installation to a different format altogether.

I do the 'quick-n-dirty' method. I simply take a image .... load it as my background and it creates a .pdb image. I copy it ... rename it... and then move it back to my MS. This way I have a .jpg or .bmp image... and a .pdb image.

If you have a specific image or a few images you need converted to .pdb format.... let me know, and I would be happy to help you get them converted to a format which will work with your particular PDA.

The_iceman, since you know quite abit about zlauncher and some other non clie PDAs. I was wondering if the Handspring Prism has the capablitiy to see the jpgs? I waiting for the release of the new Palms coming out or I'm going to invest in the new clie that's out now. Give me your 0.02 worth would you. If anyone else wants to chime in on this I would be greatful.

well.. the handspring prism ... is a low-res color PDA. 160x160

1> you would have to use a low-res theme.

2> I don't believe they use .jpgs.... I think you would need a low-res .pdb to work. :)

Iceman, I have a Palm IIIc .. not exactly a Clie but I'm wondering how you would convert a low-res jpg or bmp to a "low res pdb" like you mentioned?
