This game is not just about speed. In fact a good strategy is much more important. The human brain can only process a small part of the screen at a time. If you try to look at everything at once you will just waste time searching for the pattern. Isolation is the key to reducing search time.

In the Timed Mode, I use a strategy of what I called “Bottom-to-Top (B2T) Approach.” A fundamental understanding of Bejeweled is that the bottom blocks are stable and the top ones are dynamic. Whenever you move something at the bottom, you affect the top also. With B2T, you keep your eyes at the bottom of the screen, move all the available blocks until they are all cleared, then you move up one or two rows to find more available blocks. As you move up, some bottom blocks might be matched for clearance again, and you always clear the bottom as the first priority. Eventually the bottom will run out of all movable blocks and you can move up slowly. That is where the isolation begins, when you move up more than one row, you realize the bottom row becomes stable, and you no longer need to look at it again. Your eyes only need to focus from left to right instead of going up and down at the same time. The higher up you go, the fewer blocks you need to look at. Eventually you will run out of all movable blocks, Bejeweled will simply clear the whole screen for you and you start from the bottom again.

The strategy for "Easy Mode" is much more complicated. I will write it up only if I hear some interest here.

I used to have over 100,000+ on my Timed Game too but that was on my SJ30 and I didn't register back then. Now I have a SJ33, so I dun get the nag screen anymore.

Can't imagine how some of you can get to over 400,000 or 800,000. When I get above 100,000, I can't even beat my own record anymore. :mad:

I also follow the B2T tactic for Timed Game and concentrate on the top tactic for Easy Game. :D

i have figured out that the best way to continue playing in the classic mode is to avoid the power jems created by getting four in a row and stive to get hyper cubes by getting five in a row. make as many as you can and use them sparingly. i have a video on youtube where i was able to line them up in such a way that i created two hyper cubes in one move. i have had as many as 14 hyper cubes in one level http://www.flickr.com/photos/dannwyman/1703500260/
i hope i never loose, it does get very difficult sometimes, after level 170 i noticed a huge change in the games ability to screw with me.
also, as much as possible try to keep your hyper cubes close to the bottom, when it goes to the next level they are going to be scattered out and you need to use some to get others to drop to the bottom.
