Is there a piece of software that will allow me to turn on the clie and open a program simply by opening the device and twisting it into the portrait position (flat)?

Why, are you some kind of Philly Fanatic? :)
Hmm, there seems to be a lot of interest in this lately. I don't recall when opened, but there is Okey that works when you close it and shuts down the Clie.
When this has been brought up in the past, the consensus has seemed to be that the Clie is unable to recognize the state of the screen when it's powered off.
Short of having the Clie always on, I have one theory which might just be a hardware limitation: the Clie obviously has some kind of "switch" that observes the state of the screen, so it knows when to flip or shut down the display. If that switch could function as a power button (as the actual power button and four main hard buttons do), it could be used to turn on the Clie when in the open position, and then with some software, it could be mapped to also open an app of your chosing. I don't know much about the technical stuff, but my guess is that which buttons the Clie accepts input from when it's off is determined by hardware. But maybe someone can correct me.

well when i have my clie of in tablet mode its rightside up without wait at all, (no pside down switch to right side up) so wheni turn it off in tablet mode and bring it to clamshell mode when i power on itws already in the right position, no delay on screen orientation
