gps memorystick

I am not sure whether anyone posted that one before..
there is a gps memeorystick available in japan..

does anyone know anything about that one ?
where to get it in the US or europe ?
will it work with a western model ?

My understanding is that it only usefull in Japan, because of the proprietary Sony software and driver.
