Anyone know how well this keyboard works with our "T-clie"s?

Don't do it. Buy a Belkin G700 or a ThinkOutside Stowaway. I've used both and they are both great.

There used to be a thread, before the "Great Crash" discussing the IR keyboard(s). They're more trouble than they are worth.

I've got the pocketop IR keyboard. It's small (probably too small for some!) which I like, but you can't rotate the screen on a Clie (which sux) and it does crash my 615 more often than I'd like, forcing me to have to do a reset... wait, wait, waiting. This bugs me since it wastes my time! Though recently with a patch and an updated driver it seems to be a tad better. The keyboard has a AAA onboard battery and doesn't suck much power out of your PDA. It also works so so with WordSmith (doesn't do all the shortcuts all the time, and you have to set an autosave just in case of a crash - I do every minute now, so every bloody minute I get a pop up asking me if I want to save... Not much of an AUTOsave if you ask me!)
So would I recommend it with a Clie? In honesty - no.
It seems to work better with Palms (on wife's m505 all works great!)
If anyone out there has had better luck with keeping the IR link stable etc, I wouldn't mind a tip. At the moment it goes well most of the time, but you never know when....CRASH!!!

The belkin keyboard is fantastic. It folds up easily and has caused no conflicts with my software. An added bonus is that it can charge your clie at the same time. I use it on my T665 and wouldn't be without it. I run "Daynotez and Agendus" to replace the right hand side of my old paper diary and the keyboard makes journal entries simple.

I have a stowaway keyboard (from Sony) and have never had any problems with it. I have had a stowaway keyboard for 4 different palms and never had any system or hardware problems.

I bought a Stowaway for my m505, but then when I had to buy another one for my Clie I started thinking about the next one and the one after that I would have to buy. I guess it was either stick with Palm PDA, or find a keyboard that would give me more flexibility. I thought the Pocketop was just that, and in some ways I guess it is. I guess what I really want is a bluetooth enabled keyboard + PDA device of my choice which I can potentially chop and change as I choose. The Pocketop is OK, but I had hoped for better. I read some good reviews etc. Hopefully it will work with my next PDA and hopefully it will work as it's meant to!

I have had a pockettop as well, crashed all the time and I thought I noticed a decrease in battery life on my Sony T...I chalked it up to using the IR port all the time (it has to take more battery power, doesnt it?). Besides the crashing it was a great little keyboard, I got used to the keys after a few minutes. The point I came to is whats the point of having a keyboard if its going to crash all the time...doesnt seem productive. I now have the Sony branded stowaway and love it...always works and no crashes. Its a titch on the expensive side but in this case you get what you pay for - atleast in my experience.

After trying out various patches and a driver update from Pocketop the crashes have decreased to a point where the thing is usable - but admitedly it still very annoying and just not right. My latest patch was from some japanese site, and I really wasn't entirely sure what I was sticking on my Clie (apart from it being an IR patch of some sort!) I'm pleased to say that it has helped! (Phew!) I guess I am still hoping that at some point I'll find something or someone that will sort things out once and for all. I am actually rather surprised with battery life since I thought it would just suck it up. Oh well, we battle on with our toys and gadgets I, i suppose it keeps things interesting huh?!

personally, I think the stowaway -- which I really like -- is the most elegant solution. but, if you want a keyboard that'll work with any PDA, I also had very good experience with the iBiz (which connects via serial cable).

I have the Sony's KB11 (I think it's from Stowaway). It's a full size keyboard fold up by having it split into 4 sections. The keyboard itself is very type-able, it's just like a fullsize laptop keyboard (meaning its keys are fullsize, but key press with less depth). I can type at around 75wpm with it, which is pretty much my limit even with a desktop fullsize keyboard. One other thing I like about it is the purple-ish aluminium casing for the keyboard itself, very sleek.

The only downside is the weight of it...that's all.
