I have downloaded the new INST_NETFRONT1136US.PRC
from the forum (posted by n2ifp in topic "Netfront and Hotmail not compatible?") to make the Netfront3 work with hotmail.com.
However, as I am a so new with my NX80V, I have no idea how to install it. I copied the new file to my Memory Stick and cannot go further. Please help.
Thank you so much.

PS. I cannot find the original netfront3.prc or the original inst_netfront1136us.prc in my NX80V either.

Netfront only works from the internal memory so you will have to put it there........ also one annoying Netfront querk is that you need to have at least 6 Meg of free space in the internal RAM for it to install...........

Make sure you have 6M free
On your PC open the install tool for the Clie
Select the Netfront file (where ever it is on your pc)
Hotsync to install.

et voila.. Netfront for all...

That's because NetFront is in ROM and it's version 1.1.47.

Version1.1.36 is an earlier NX70 version. Since you are substituting one for the other, you will have 2 megabytes less RAM, and it will have to stay in RAM.

You may also run into some difficulties using an earlier version of NF on the NX80.

If modifying the later version, it has no install file, so it will requires a different approach as NF is in ROM already. You will need to copy the ROM file, edit it and then install it from MS Backup.

First try the NX70 version, but as mjhamilton says, you need at least 6MB free for it to install. Once it is installed, then it will only occupy 2 megabytes, not counting any cache files.

Additionally, you will need to keep a copy of it on your memory stick, maybe in the Palm folder. If you need to do a hard reset, MS Backup will NOT restore NetFront. So the first thing you need to do is copy NetFront to RAM and then do your restore from MS Backup.

FWIW, this is exactly what I did on my UX50, and it completely killed the device. Sent it into a soft reset loop that forced me to do a hard reset, uninstall all the desktop software, and reinstall from scratch (a simply re sync after a hard reset wouldn't do it).

Either I'm doing something wrong (though I did those instructions to the letter) or someone who knows alot more about programming that I do needs to figure out a way to spoof IE on the UX series.

The UX has a different operating system now with enhanced wireless communication capabilites. So older versions of NF may not work.

Why you all do that? NF version 1.1.36 is better than 1.1.47?

No it's not better and v1.1.47 is in ROM. Therfore there is no install file for it and the modified v1.1.47 would have to stay in RAM if it can be installed there. I don't use Hotmail, I use a regular pop3 account.
