Hey guys! I would just like to ask for your opinion regarding CF cards for use on my NX80...

what particular brand would be better?

I have offers on SanDisk and Silicon Power...does anyone use either brand? which would be the better brand?

How bout capacity? besides the size, is there any other consideration i need to look at before buying a CF card?

Thanks for your time ;)

San Disc I think it the best for the NX80, that is what I have in mine and I loaded about 150 songs and some e-books on my 1 Gig CF card.

The San Disk is probaly one of the most widley used and the trans rate for the Clie to read it is really quick, no slow downs like I got with the SD cards on my iPAQ that I just dumped on e-bay.

If you look hard enough you can find a killer deal on the 1 gig and it is so worth it to spend the money. It is the only card I will ever use for mass storage. I have a 512 MS Pro in there also but the CF slot is the main reason I bought this unit and not the UX everyone is raving about. I will use the CF card more than the WiFi and BT.

Check Amazon for the best price on San Disk CF cards. I picked up mine for $140.00, yes that is right 140 after the 50 dollar rebate which came in 3 weeks. I was shocked at how fast they returned the cash to me.

Check www.pricegrabber.com for better prices if Amazon doesn't have any.

I am using a SanDisk 256MB (245MB shown by card info).

Working Fine. No delay when viewing converted movies or directly copied MPEG.

mrSONYman, theper: Thanks for your replies!

I might get SanDisk instead of the other brand! :)

Actually, i also found out that SanDisk is the original maker of Compactflash Cards ;) That makes it the best choice!

I also have a 256MB SanDisk card.

As a past beta tester, there is no known cards that do not work.

The Microdrive is read only for the Clie, due to it's high power requirements during write operations. Some have it working, but most end up with it trashing itself!

Greetings

I looked into this pretty hard, looks like there were complaints about Sandisk speed... and others that said that there was no difference in any cards at the clie transfer rate. It was fairly confusing. If you are really curious I can re-look up the threads in CF forum.

It is why I eventually got the Viking 1gb... very happy with it.

Anyone notice the ability to play movies at a higher resolution or frame rate off the CF as opposed to MemStick? I'm looking for someone who's actually tried it and seen the difference. Thanks!

I have run the same movie on ms 128 and cf1gb, there is no perceptible difference... Im no expert of course. Surprising was that a 32mb mpg collapsed to under 3mb with imageconvert...

With long files (movies) I have had some problem with frozen controls... sometimes the movie stops and cf is frozen, and sometimes it plays fine but I cannot fwd or bakup or affect volume.

According to some threads this has to do with the conversion parameters, but still havent figured it out.

Cant try long files on MS, since it is only 128mb...

Hope it helps
