Honestly, I kinda miss Palm Desktop 4.1 (fr my 515). Switching to my Clie Nx70V is great but their Palm Desktop 4.0.1 just isn't as "polished" as Palm's.
Hence my question: anyone knows or tried using 4.1 with their Clie's? Does it work (or is it recommended)? I tried referencing this matter on Sony's website but directions are kinda fuzzy.
Any Clie users have any experience or input on this?
Cheers.

Works fine for me! Uninstall your current desktop and install the updated version. I think it did the uninstall for me, I don't remember? To be on the safe side, make a backup copy of the C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\ folder.

For new Clie users/upgraders in the same boat, yep.. you can go right ahead and install Palm Desktop 4.1 over Clie's. The Installer will take care of un-installing the previous version.
Works like a charm :)
Now, I just need to see Palm desktop files & accessibility is okay when I log onto my other XP profile. (have installed it into a "work" profile/limited rights. Other XP profile is "personal" which has full administrator rights).

I dont understand.
I installed Sonys Desktop 4.0.1. Downloaded Palms 4.1, and installed it over 4.0.1, which first told me that it had to unintall 4.0.1...
Did that, but I could not sync my NX after the 4.1 was finished installing.
It never found the NX.
I have XP home on my home computer...
What did I do wrong??

Here's my 2 cents worth: When 4.1 Installer is launched.. it'll ask which directory to install to. Perhaps you can try the "Browse" button and point it to the "Sony Handheld Folder" instead of the default "Palm" folder.

I have chosen Sony Desktop when asked during install.
But still the same outcome I always end up un-installing 4.1 and reinstalling 4.0.1.
Frustrating!

Hi Jeff!
Are you absolutely sure that the upgrade is using the existing C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\ folder?
At home here on four XP Home machines, the upgrade took maybe about 2-3 minutes to do and worked flawlessly. I did not do any Sony PC updates either.

Here's what I did after wiping my drive and Installing XP Pro from Scratch:
1. Install Palm Software 4.0.1 that is on the Sony CD-Rom
2. Copy the folder Sony Drivers from the Sony folder that was just installed
3. Uninstall the Sony Palm Desktop
4. Install Palm Desktop 4.1
5. Hotsync. Windows will give you a message stating new hardware was found, then you'll get a dialog box to search for the driver. The driver is in that Sony Driver folder you made a copy of.
6. Works perfectly for me now. If not, try disconnecting your Sony USB cable, start up, and then connect once Windows is running. It should detect it then
