View Full Version : Which accessory first?

I've been visiting this site almost hourly while waiting for my new 80v to arrive in the mail, so I figure this would be a good place to ask this question. I have my eyes on both the KB100 (the keyboard, if that isn't the right name) and the wifi card (probably the 110, since I already have a card for my laptop and I need compatibility with the most routers possible), and so I was wondering two semi-related questions:
1. Which do you think is best to get first?
and
2. Which is most likely to decrease in price most?
This is my first PDA so I don't really have any experience in the field, so your input would be very helpful.

If you want your clie to last, I would highly suggest this order:
1.) screen protector (install this BEFORE using stylus on screen)
2.) case
3.) other stuff (keyboard, wifi, car cradle, etc.)

From my experience with a Vx (where I had a folding keyboard) and my current NX70 (where I have a WiFi card), I'd say that the keyboard is more useful for what I do. That is, take notes and minutes and edit document at work.
If your work and/or lifestyle does not involve much semi-remote data entry, the keyboard's value is dubious. (By semi-remote, I mean where you are far enough away from your PC such that you cannot type on that and sync it down but not too far away such that you do not have a flat surface to unfold your keyboard.)
Otherwise, the WiFi card is handier because you can remote sync with your PC (to pick the mail, for instance) and surf the web (if your home or office have it).

I TOTALLY AGREE! :D
Get an MSBT module if you've got a BT-compatible mobile phone!
I've ordered one and happy waiting for wireless surfing experience.
Of course, screen protector first! :D

The WL110 uses the same driver as the WL100 and both access the same number of 802.11b routers!!! Many users have the WL100 working just fine with Linksys and D-Link routers/Wireless Access Points. Nothing has convinced me that the WL110 is better, if anything, it's just the opposite.

Thanks all. I bought some screen protectors and I'm shopping around for cases (I have a week or so before it arrives so I have some time--an eternity it feels like). I definitely want this baby protected, being both my first PDA and quite an investment moneywise.
If the WL100 and WL110 have the same drivers and work with the same routers, then what's the difference? Just that one is an intel chip and the other is all sony? I gathered from other posts that the 100 had problems with Linksys and DLink routers (I have a DLink at home), but if not then I might as well go with the 100.

its not the problem with the router, i think that its only the configuration of your network and access point, i own a WL100 card and my access point is a wf router (practical comm) at both work excellent. Its because if your devices complies with 802.11b STANDARD, they will work together.

Martin field screen protector? Heard from alot of people that it is the best in the market. Even though the price is high but it will last you for a long time.

I would hold off on the keyboard because you might be satisfied with the thumbboard. I would definately get a WIFI card(prefferably wl-100 b/c it will be cheaper and just as good if not better, wl110 is just another sony proproetary thingy). Also, a memory stick is a must and go 128mb or prefferably more if you can afford it.

256 MB MS and a GC10, those are the things I highly recommend first. Oh yeah a case but get a memory stick first. Its going to piss you off when you want to test out the picture and video capture and the Clie is telling you there is no memory stick. That really pissed me off when I got mine because I bought a MicroDrive instead of a MemoryStick and I couldn't record video for a month after I got the NX70.
