ARKON Resources, Inc. began shipping their new Powered Multimedia PDA Mounts this week for the Sony Clie T and N series.

See http://www.arkon.com/pdapower.html

The built-in DC power cord will provide continuous power to your Clie, however this is not the only thing that makes the new solution so special. It also has a built-in amplified speaker on the back of the cradle that will significantly help you clearly hear your MP3 music far above the noise of the road. Unlike the previous models of Multimedia Mounts that Arkon's offered, this new one does not go through the FM stereo. While that feature is cool in itself, it is not ideal for listening to MP3 music as there is always a lesser quality of sound. For us music lovers though, the high quality amplified speaker on these new mounts means being able to hear our tunes clearly even with the windows down in traffic.

The revolutionary cradle also includes a volume control knob, power LED, and a USB interface for popular models of phones These cords (for Nokia 5100/6100 and 8200 GSM phones) plug directly into the phone and provide a hands free solution in the car for those phones. When a call comes in, your Clie will chime a tone... answer the call on your Nokia phone and you'll hear the person on the other end through the built in speaker on the back of the cradle. This feature is quite awesome. I am told that ARKON will be offering the hands free cords for the Nokia phones as an option on their site soon along with a Dual Function solution to hold your phone as well.

Only ARKON offers 2 different pedestals to choose from for mounting the Powered PDA Mount in your vehicle. The first is a universal multi-angle pedestal whereby allowing perfect directional placement in the vehicle at all times. The flexible rectangular pedestal base conforms to the shape of your dash or console, even for those that are not a flat surface. The pedestal attaches to your vehicle with a strong 3M adhesive and can easily be detached from the cradle should you want to put the cradle in the glove compartment while you are away from the vehicle. If you already own another company's flat mounting bracket, you will likely be able to mount the multi-angle pedestal on that flat surface. THESE SOLUTIONS BEGAN SHIPPING THIS WEEK! SEE MODELS CM510 and CM515

The second pedestal solution is ARKON's exclusive SUPER STRONG SUCTION windshield pedestal. At 8" in length, it is well suited for most vehicles. The super strong suction disc can easily hold up to 10 Lbs. securely from the windshield. With this one, you can rest assured that your Clie and Mount will definitely not come flying off the windshield. The windshield pedestal will be available for these beginning March 5, 2003.

The windshield pedestal for the Powered PDA Mounts is an ARKON exclusive. See models CM511 and CM516.

Wow, sounds interesting, but you could have at least identified yourself as a Chewlies Gum representative drumming up this anti-smoking sentiment to sell more of your gum. Sorry for the Clerks reference but I love that scene.

Seriously, it sounds like an interesting product but this type of guerilla marketing only serves to annoy me. Honesty is the best policy, and straight shooting is always appreciated...

THIS (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&category%5Fname=CTLG%5F002%5F001%5F019%5F005&product%5Fid=12%2D1999) and THIS (http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=1979&pcount=&Product_Id=122853&Section.Section_Path=%2F%2FRoot%2FMobileSolutions%2FPDAAccessories%2FPower%2F) can do the same thing. Right? For only 40 bucks! I assume that the output for the headphone on the Clie would be the same. The headphones that came with my Clie work in a portable cd player.
