hi there, i put the pxa clocker in my clie, after lots of reset i went with only one stable preset of 300mhz overclock.
Does anybody tried using this program to overclock far beyond 300mhz with success?

does it really help in any way?

Tocache,

Like you, I've only been able to achieve 300 MHz on the NX80V.

Dropzone,

To answer your question, it doesn't really help that much yet, but PDA applications are growing in complexity just like PC applications, and soon the need for some extra megahertz will be apprent.

I got my NX80 running stable at 353Mhz with the following setting:

SysClk x32
MemClkx2
CPUClkx1.5

i cannot reach 353MHz unless theres no memory stick inside the clie

i wanted it to powerup the flash player, but it seems to be unstable...

Flash Player resets the clock speed because it's a Sony app.

I was the first one to come up with the SysClk x32 MemClk x2 CPUClk x1.5 config, BTW. ;)

I don't recommend it, unless you like to be an expert on resetting the Clie. For any speed benefit or time savings, it's negated by the exponetial number of resets one has to do... :D

My NX80 is also running stable at this setting.

May be you just happened to be the first one to post it.

I thought these new NX's had the same processor as the TG50. From what I've heard, you can get up to 400 on the TG50.

Any answers?

not for nx73,80 ..

i deleted the pxa clocker, im tired of having to push the reset switch almost everytime i want to use it

What??? You mean you don't want to be a professional reseter?

Now you know why I don't bother with it. You waste more time trying to save time and also have an unstable PDA.

ha ha ha, professional reseter, i have pushed the reset button almost 500 times since i got my nx80v (2 weeks ago) :D:D

i only got 300 too...
27*2*1.5

if i set 32...it will reset...
and i find out that nx80/h ppl most can make 300
but nx80/u can almost upto 352...

is that hk ver. is different of the u ver????

I hate to say it, but Lightspeed has given me 0 resets. And the settings indicate it can run at about 350mhz on my NX70.

I went around and put lightspeed and PXA clocker on every darn NX80 in every darn CompUSA and Frys in greater LA (No go for Best Buy cause of their a$$nine PDA displays prevents reseting), and I've yet to see one clock to 400Mhz. Best I got was 350Mhz, and half won't even do that.

My guess is that Sony buys lower bin PXA255s from intel to save cost. I wonder how much more Palm pays for their higher bin PXA255s that go in the Tungsten Cs?

You seriously did this.

You are indeed brave and funny, but also resourceful!

Thanks for the feedback.

Mine runs stable at 300-350.

I didn't do it in one day. ;)

Yeah, for the last 2~3 weeks, everytime I go to a new store, I head straight to the PDAs and clock away! :D

Has anyone found a longer life, if you run it at 100-150 MHz? It would be intersting, since for most stuff it should still run fast enough at a lower speed

yeah considering that the SJ's run at like... 33mhz and they run fine

Don't know if you can compare MHz vs MHz. I learned that it can't be a good indication of performance, just look at the PPC, P4 and PIII :)
But the dragonball is an older slower CPU.

Yeah, a direct comparison doesn't work. Considering speedy says the NX are in the thousands of MHZ. :D

i like it with warfare .. super fast when i have lots of units ..

but but .. i don't want to mention ..

pxa killed my nx70 .. that was why .. nx80 on my hand now ..

try to use the first version of pxa .. it is very stable ..

I was overclocking at 300 MHz (safely I thought) with PXA Clocker 3.1, and trying out Flash Player and Picsel. I just got a hard reset when I exited Flash Player and went to Picsel.

Looks like it's not worth it- a hard reset and restore is no big deal, but would be a pain if you're not at your computer...

PS- I had just set turbo up a notch, maybe that is bad. I'll also try the other method of going to 300 MHz.
