View Full Version : Is it Hard reset time?

You may have seen my other thread which describes my continuing AvantGo problems and now when using the remote control for the MP3 player I'm getting intermittent errors for example:

-the NX won't always wake up via the remote

-when changing tracks with the remote I get system errors displayed even though the MP3 play continues (when this happened yesterday the display lost all track info etc)

-sometimes can't find any MP3s and I have to remove the CF and MS switch off, reinsert the CF and initiate audio playback and then insert the MS.

The MP3s are stored on the CF and I wondered if this is the problem but I think it has more to do with my rearranging apps to the CF a few days ago.

Anyway AvantGo is proving to be unsolvable - see here http://www.cliesource.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=23467 and the new audioplayer problems make me ask if my first hard reset is due? I've tried softing but to no discernible advantage.

Any thoughts or fixes before I do it?

[ One final frustration: I backed up to MS last night and found the one I did last Wednesday. On checking now the MS reports NO backups in existence  - any ideas? ]

What CF Driver are you using? That might be whats messing things up.

I downloaded the pelaca drivers - I asked here if I should use one or the other (there are two in the download) so without any feedback I loaded both. Everything seemed OK until after moving apps to the MS or CF.

Even if the CF driver were at fault, that wouldn't explein the disappearance of the MS backups would it?

Most certainly would in some cases. The issue isn't so much the driver as it is trying to trick the apps to see the CF. Thnigs have a way of getting confused. There have been reports of the CF or MS directories getting wiped out. Sometimes the brand of CF made a difference, maybe it was faster or slower and the timing was more stable. I basically stopped using it and now I have the NX80. Additionally, I frequently make backup copies of my MS to the PC's hard drive. One never knows when disaster strikes.

Sony did it's best to thwart use of the CF card for it's multimedia apps. Using 3rd party software usually was not a problem. I didn't want you to think that you have a defective Clie. If you want to prove this to yourself, layoff using the CF card for awhile and see what happens.
