You can try out the UX simulator (portrait mode) and feel about how cool the new CLIE 3D OpenGL Launcher UI it is.. It comes with the US ROM version beside the JP version.

Cool..

More detail of UX info from the SonyStyle HK site..

I was just tinkering with it, thanks.

I was wondering if the todo list, memo pad, etc... take advantage of landscape mode with the real UX? This is not allowed with the simulator.

Yes, all the built in PIM apps make use of the full landscape. So do NetFront, Cliemail and other bundled software with a few exceptions (Audio Player, calculator, Clie Memo, and WA Clock).

Since it comes with the roms, is it possible to extract the applications to try them out in other machines. Sorry it comes in a wintel format and won't run on a mac.

I could not get it to work on Windows 2000 pro. Did I do something wrong?

I'm a Mac guy, but I also have a PC for things like this.

What's happening when you lauch it in Win2k Pro?

I was able to use the earlier OS5 PALM sims with my Win2k PC.

I can launch the simulator without problem under WinXP. However some apps do crashes the simulator like QuickSheet, SplashPhoto etc..

You can test how your .prc works with it. I got those PQA apps not supported, and some apps like MegaCal display not properly.

Anyway the 3D launcher is very interesting and the UI is cool.

It doesn't come with the netfront or any setup for bluetooth or wifi menu simulation. Blackberry simulator does very good that you can even simulate the wireless condition like weak signal etc..

Cheeks..

Yeah, the 3D launcher is intersting. I like the little clock also.

those will just appear as normal 320x320 apps in other machines due lack of landscape wide-res API.

pretty cool emulator, you really get the feel of the 3D Launcher, really a big temptation for the UX50 now. :D
But gotta play around with the emulator somemore to see how things work out on the layout & crashes which others have posted as well. :)

oh, got caught by you guys again with the spelling thing again. :(
Well, I think this time it's the wrong term entirely. :D
It's been a while since last time logging in to Cliesource. ;)

I've just tried some of the applications on the simulator & splashphoto seems to crash, as somebody has already posted earlier, Bejeweled works fine, but GTS racing is not functioning neither.

Actually my first attempt to play with these Sims.. :p

I don't think you can use any apps that have ARMlet's in them. I remember reading on the doc's about the simulator that any apps with ARMlets have to be recompiled into DLL's to run in the simulator.
