View Full Version : UX50 Comes With PalmOS Sound API

I have just downloaded Pocket Tunes 1.9, AeroPlayer 2.7 and MMPlay 0.1.7.

With my limited testing, PocketTunes and AeroPlyaer work perfectly. Everything seems to work fine with these 2 players.

MMPlayer plays with full stereo audio. MMPlayer does not support UX50's landscape mode, and it is buggy. But the sound was perfect.

Seems like Sony, as reported somewhere, has included PalmOS Sound API with the UXes.

Good for all of us, more choices of player.

Hurray, that (finally) brings Ogg files to the Clie. Hopefully Audible will run on the UX series, too.

That would be a big BONUS for me --- none of my portable gear yet plays that format...

I am wondering if videos and voice recorder files I made with my NX70 will work with the UX?

yep the MM player was whack.. I got 3 images that were sort of.. mixing..
pretty, but I cant watch my one peice divxs like that! at least the sound was solid, and these developments as you say, show prommise

I also noticed AeroPlayer can handle a wider range of MP3 encodings than the sony app.. its already become my player of choice :D

yeah.. wanna get 3rd party video working.. 30fps Divx from MS.. I'd even PAY for that!

Finaly a Clie' device that won't be affected by SONY's EVIL music controling ways.

I despise ATRAC.

Have anyone tried the Real Mobile Player?

I despise real networks.

vote 1 for OPEN media formats and standards! dont buy RealOne (it should be called RealTwo!)

The Real One player on the Tungsten is terrible, I can't imagine using it on a Clie. Using Audible and Aeroplayer would be very cool though. This might be a reason for me to upgrade to a new Clie sooner than I was expecting.

I am wondering if, just as there is a way now of getting graffiti2 on an NX70, and g1 on an NX80, if there was a way of getting the sound API's into one of the existing OS5 clie's, out of the UX...

There probably is a way...or at least a way to figure out the existing API. There is no profit for that job so no one has done it as of yet.

What could make a profit is something that would translate the regular POS api calls into the Sony API calls.

greeble snatch is ok, but don't turn on bluetooth, it interfers with the native's internal antennas

It would be great if we could somehow transfare this new palmos 5 generic music playing ability to the NX series. Maybe sony will offer a patch - like the case of the flash update , but i doubt it...

it would be cool if maybe they could "patch" the NX's but secretly swapping them for UX's on the sly ;)

According to the picture the UX doesnt have a remote control, right?

sonicboy

it does but its sold separately, I got mine yesterday and have been racing the UX around my linoleum kitchen floor
