You can see what they said at their site (http://www.techtv.com/freshgear/products/story/0,23008,3497861,00.html)

The article was short - they gave it plusses for form and features, but did knock it for being landscape only - no auto-rotate feature.
They mentioned the 104Mb memory but didn't go into details. They also quoted the price as $650 on the show itself (not $700 like on the website?)

We were disappointed to see that the included cradle (more like a docking station) is only for charging. You'll have to take it with you when you travel. Use a separate cable for synchronizing.

So the cable can't connect to the cradle or the UX-50 while in the cradle? Seems very odd.

sony's probably expecting you are going wireless for everything if you are buying the UX....wlan/bt sync....

they probably do that to save the spaces occupied by the expansion/hotsync slot.....

will be cool if you can charge wirelessly though...:p

That sounds more like a Tesla interface...

Tech TV was unclear. The UX series does not have a standard HotSync port. The cradle plugs into the bottom and is only for charging. There is a separate USB cable that plugs into the side for HotSyncing. You can do both at the same time.

Sounds like my Nomad - two different connections for two different purposes. Just seems odd since we aren't USED to it...

I'll agree they were unclear - it was anything but an in-depth review. I'm just glad at a chance OFF line to see it already... :D

I am a little annoyed/worried that it will be pretty difficult to make a combined hotsync/charge cable. With the battery life on this, I'm going to want to be able to top it off pretty quickly - ideally from a laptop USB port or something. If I have to drag a cradle around, that's just not as appealing.

For me - except for the possibility of WIFI, I doubt I could wear this down in a day. Unless I was taking notes for a class say.
And getting a second cradle for $49 IS an option for my desk...

A second battery --- ONLY if I really started using it HEAVY.

I'm still wondering if they will have a new fullsize keyboard that is compatible with this. Sony told me NO on the NX80 last month and now they've got the new one that is. I've not heard from any of the new users whether they have gotten one of the IR universals to work.

There are such things as bluetooth keyboards/mice. If there were drivers I'd think that would be the ideal solution. IR is really too flaky to use for anything other than address card beaming and perhaps remote controls in those models with boosted strength.

looks a little large. i don't think it will fit in a shirt pocket

why even make it a charging cradle then? why not a charging cable? I use an IGO Juice charger ( http://www.igo.com/mapfiles/juice.asp ) to charge my laptop, pda and cell phone. The clie connector is just a T series connecter on a cable with a little bulge for some electronics. This new cradle charger business looks like it'll double the size of the IGO connector that I'll need to take with me when I travel. ::sigh::

Ouch --- I wonder if Bluetooth would be an option if you are using a bluetooth keyboard to type on wifi accessed web-sites. Wouldn't that be a double hit on the power drain???

Yes it would (be a double hit on the battery) although I *think* the radio usage for an interface device like a keyboard would be much less than, say, sync'ing or doing ip-over-bluetooth so it might not be as bad as you might fear.

I hope SONY makes a bluetooth gamepad for it. But the price would probably be ridiculous. I'll be happy with a USB version.
