So, sad to say, but I'm an AOL subscriber, and would love to check my e-mail or even better, IM on my Clie. Especially since I now have my Wi-fi card working, and have found some good hot spots. Problem is AOL wants $20 for each of these applications. I already pay a small fortune to them for an ISP service, do I have to pay them this as well? AOL.co.uk, has free versions for palm, but they don't seem to want to work, for my US AOL screenname. Anyone know of a good IM program or an e-mail program for clie that reads AOL mail?

strangely, i was able to download AIM for free from a link on PalmGear. I thought they made it available for free; guess I got a warzed version :(
Oh well, I have no net connection for my Clie so AIM is useless anyway :D

AIM v1.1 freeware version!

I missed it too originally, until a friend pointed me in the right direction.

Go up on Handango + for 19.95, you can download AOL palm. Works great on my clie(pc or mac) + it allows you set pref just like your aol on your pc. So far I haven't gotten the web stuff to work yet, but I just started using this yesterday.
Take care.

AOL and Orange UK (Europe) with NX70V / U (US gunmetal PDA)
A number of people at Orange UK (European Cell Network) have told me that you cannot use AOL on your PDA to access email etc.(it doesn't conform to POP3 standard). I hope this is of help, because you can…
I’m using a Sony Ericsson T68i with a gunmetal Clie NX70V/U - bought in the US. Here are my FULL phone and Clie settings and I have no problems.
Ensure GPRS is activated on your phone.
Phone settings
Connect Using: select Orange GPRS Internet
Protocol: Pop3
Incoming Server: pop.orange.net
Incoming Port: 110
Mailbox: yourname (from your Orange.net account)
Password: yourpassword (from your Orange.net account)
Outgoing Server: smtp.orange.net
Outgoing port: 25
Email address: use your Orange Net email address (set this up if need be via the orange website)
Clie Settings
1 Go to SETTING then PREFS
2 Select CONNECTION
3 Add NEW
4 Name it CUSTOM
5 Connect to MODEM via INFRARED
6 Dialing TOUCHTONE, volume MEDIUM
7 Click on DETAILS and select:
speed at 57,000
flow CTL at AUTOMATIC
INIT Sting: ATX
8 Go back to PREFS in main menu. Select NETWORK
9 Service: ORANGE NETWORK
10 User Name: yourorangenetaccountname
11 Password: yourorangenetaccountpassword
12 Connection: CUSTOM
13 Phone: *99#
14 Click on details…
Connection type: ppp
Idle timeout: whatever
Query DNS: Select
IP Address: select AUTOMATIC
AOL UK provide free PDA software for your Clie. I haven’t tried this. (Keyword: PDA).
I have spent $20 and downloaded more up to date AOL software available from Handango.
IMPORTANT:When logging in to AOL software on your Clie, select location as 'ANOTHER ISP' - as opposed to the usual 'HOME' location.
Good luck!
ps Many thanks guys for all the advice I get off this superb site!
