buy NX73V or NX80V

I am new fresher for CLIE or PDA. I am looking at the CLIE or PDA for a long time until 70/73/80 appeared. It attracts me as

1. I had a sony 5.0 megapexial DC with 128m MS, during my travelling, I feel 128kb MS is insufficient and would like to make use of the extendable FC slot in Clie for digital wallet

2. I would like to preview my DC in Clie (larger screen instead of in the camera LCD) without using the storage space of MS

3. I would like to have a MP3 and video player during my trip

4. Of cource, I would like to own a sony Clie (PDA)

Is there any technical or non-technical problem here?
Which one is better as I hear many info. about the 32Rom & Ram but not all can use in NX80 something something ...... can any one tell me more?

Since you have a 5MP digicamera, I think you should get the NX73 instead of the NX80. The NX73 looks cooler in black too :D Anyway, the only things that the NX80 has an edge over the NX73 is a 1MP camera and an additional 4.5MB for you to use in RAM.

NX80 - 15.5 MB user available
NX73 - 11 MB user available

You will be able to preview the photos from the CF slot natively without any patches/hacks using SplashPhoto/AcidImage. ( the built in Clie Viewer for photos is slow as hell...)

Using the MP3/MoviePlayer with the memory stick is easy as ABC. To use the MP3/MoviePlayer from the CF card, you need to install patched versions of the programs. Not too difficult either...

So, go for the NX73 :D

For the 32MB RAM on the NX80 issue, only 15.5 MB is user available as the palm OS 5.0 limits RAM to 16MB.... so..... nothing we can do here....

Doesn't the NX80 have a larger heap memory, 16MB vs 5MB? Very important if one wants to use NetFront via WiFi. I had 15.9MB free when I got my NX80. The additional 5.0MB of RAM was very important to me. Notice that ricleo has the NX80

Yeap, I have the nx80, but I would have gotten the 73 if it was available in Singapore :D haha...recommended the NX73 still because he didn't list wifi surfing as a requirement on the purchase, just picture viewing, Mp3 and video.. hee...the 16MB heap memory of my NX80 didn't make much of a difference for me cuz I don't surf via wifi :p

i wanted to get the nx80 because i dont have a digicam
but if i did i'd prob get the nx73

Your requirements do not exclude the newly reduced 70. Granted the drivers for CF are an afterthought. I have not decided to upgrade from my NX70.....yet.

Please excuse my stupidity (and spelling) here. You mentioned the memory issues between the 73 and 80. How does that compare to the NX70? I have not yet made the jump from the 70 to the 80 (just wish they have BT or Wifi built in.... grrrr...), yet.
Would a, now much discounted, NX70 do the trick for "MacTower"?

Well...one thing makes the NX73 better than the NX70 would be that the latest and most up-to-date versions(B4 the UX release) of CLIE software are already pre-installed in ROM. Plus there's no need for the MSPro or system update patch.... and the CF slot is already suppported natively(though not with sony multimedia apps), so you can already use the CF for storage of files and photos whithout the need for any patches...

Thanks Ricleo... was hoping for more excuses for me to upgrade. Was hoping I was missing something like actually more usable memory. I do love the quick access hard buttons being at the base of the screen since I normally use the device with screen outward and the keyboard hidden.
One item I like on the 80 is a slightly smaller case, yet it is thicker isn't it?
The NX70 is down to 400 bucks from Sony and the CF driver is 27 dollars... same OS - makes it a pretty inexpensive jump into the NX if you can live with not having the 'latest' hardware. I'm a love the newest toys kinda guy so I'm having issues with not owning a 80 yet. Ha!

The extra $10 is worth it for backlit keyboard, better battery life, better balance, and retractable cf slot.

Sorry for late reply back as I am not at my motherland for a month. And so surprise that many valuable comment back. I still struggling for the buying. Anyways, I pefer to buy NX80v as

1. cooler color here
2. I wonder why sony make NX80v with providing many RAM but no used. My friend said he thought it may has upgrade path for OS 5.x higher for future.

Nothing like that, the 16MB extra RAM is supposed to be used by apps that requires lots of ram (ie Netfront) so they can work without problems
