View Full Version : Emergency charger for NX?

Before the Cliesource archives got lost, there were some threads about emergency chargers for the NX that used batteries to at least partially charge up the Clie. Any suggestions or links as to where I can get one? I saw one on the Sony website, but it mentioned using a particular type of battery. I was looking for something that might use regular alkaline batteries. I have a travel charger, but that won't work on a plane for long flights.

Thanks.

I found mine on ebay. Search for it and you should have no problem finding one for under 20.00.

Ah, I see. I was going to recommend the Belkin Y-Sync, as it charges the NX from any powered USB port in addition to hotsyncing, but that doesn't help if you're on a plane, and if you've got a travel charger, anywhere you've got a USB port, you probably have an available place to plug the travel charger in. However, I thought I'd throw that in just in case someone else found that a convenient solution. I found mine for $15.

CLIÉ™ Battery Adapter
PEGA-BC10

This device works for the T series as well as my NX70. Uses AA batteries and will charge the unit or just use the AA batteries for power. Sells for 39.99 on the accessories page for T series handhelds.

Forgot to mention the Sonystyle WEB page for accessories for the above post.

Brando sell a 9v charger which works great for me in long flights. Also Sony has one but it use 4 2A which last less and it is more bulky.

I got the same cable on buy.com for $9.60.  It advertises for the T-series, but works perfectly for the NX as well.

I actually got the Instant Power battery packs (http://www.instant-power.com/). They work for 3 recharges and all you do is open them up and then plug in your clie. Works great on long flights.

Use the NR or T cable for the NX.

Great ideas. I looked at and ordered the Brando 9V charger because it looked lighter to carry. The Instant-Power ones also look intriguing. I don't own a laptop so the other models won't work for me.

Thanks again for all the great suggestions. This place is a wonderful source of information and tips. :)
