Are there limitations on the type of MP3 files that can be played back? I loaded some that were 80kb and 22khz (new to me) and they were recognised but couldn't be played.
Also I assume that raw MP2s can't be played so can someone suggest suitable freeware to convert to MP3?

Do you have the system update patch installed for improved MP3 performance?
All MP3's have to be at 44.1 KHz, no MP3 Pro or VBR as DarkIce says.

These were plays from a binaries group - all my own recordings are 48, or 44 if ripped.
Thanks, it's not worth modifying them.

Tenex,
For the NX80, these are the limitations:
MP3 Bitrate: Any - I've had success all the way down to 24K - HOWEVER, the audio sample rate of the source material MUST be above 32,000HZ (32KHZ). On older Clie models, I've heard this has to be at least 44.1KHZ, but I don't have an older model and nobody has made a reply on this board stating that the older ones WON'T play 32KHZ... so who knows.
Best wishes,
Bawko
