You can get this:

Toshiba Notebook (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1055343967508&skuId=5560813&type=product&cmp=%20%20)

And then put it in your pocket? Or take decent quality pics? etc., etc. etc. I actually have far less in my Gateway 400sp... Great laptop, lousy PDA...

yes, I can buy a great car for the price of the best motorcycle...

the best laptop costs more than the best pda...

right now, for my money, the best pda is a nz-90... If I want the "best" laptop, it would be a fast P4 with a 1600 x 1400 screen, and it would cost about $2700...

but the laptop and pda do different things, to a greater extent than the comparison between a motorcycle and a car...

wellsjs, are you a disgruntled nz-90 owner, or what?

Yes - I am disgruntled that for the price:
1) The NZ 90 is not robust enough for field use (the hinge)
2) Sony will not admit this, and insist that any damage is due to 'misuse'.

Otherwise I have no quibbles.

in my experience, all Sony products are somewhat fragile. After working for Japanese companies for 6 years, and travelling there more that 20 times for 3 weeks at a shot, I understand some things: Japanese people cherish and care for their hardware more than we do. We would say something is not rugged enough, a Japanese person would blame himself, saying he was too rough on the equipment. Also, Japanese people are smaller and less strong than the average American, so basically, we break their stuff.

Yes, yes, they should make these for world wide consumption, but the reality is that it is 80 year old guys running Japanese companies, and that's how they think.

I treat all my sony stuff extra carefully, concentrating very carefully on the hinge, as you mention. No problems, but the finish is wearing off.

Well, you make your choices, and I have never owned a "perfect" PDA....

If you REALLY mean field use, you really need a ruggedized PDA like one from Symbol... of course they cost more and offer less.

Really, this is sort of like complaining that you can't seriously off-road your Ferrari...

But, are you an OWNER??? You really cannot be disgruntled if you have bought nothing.

Greg, you're right when you say -

In order to be disgruntled, you need to get gruntled in the first place.

Kinda like the Sat Night Live skit "Who's more grizzled?"
Which NZ owner is more "gruntled"?!!!

ha ha! this is making me laugh! I guess wellsjs does not want to comment... there is another guy in another thread who wants a ux-50 owner to pull out all the new apps, and then try them on a nx-70, but he does not own either one...

Maybe I am cranky, but I am more inclined to help those who already own the hardware and want help or suggestions, rather than people who come up and grouse that they are damaged because a product has not met their expectations, even though they have not even PURCHASED it....

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it...

You guys have a good day,
