View Full Version : Will you remain faithful to Sony?

I wanted to see if there are a lot of people like me who really want Sony to come out with a true T665 replacement. I personally plan on buying the TT3 when it comes out (I have heard too much to back up this new device). I would love to remain a Sony faithful, but I cannot with what they have out now. I love my T665 and would take anything that even holds to that style (an SJ-44 or SJ-55 with an ARM processor, 64 Meg's of usable RAM, longer battery, 320X480 high resolution screen, and running at least Palm OS5.2 or OS6). I have a feeling that they will not do it, so I will become a Palm customer. I hate having to switch everything over.

Anyone else really frustrated and planning on becoming a Palm customer?

None of the above. I'm content with my Tungsten|C, and if I were to buy a hypothetical hi-res+ machine, it would probably be the next Zire :) .

frankly speaking, i have a nz90 and h5555. they both do different things. if i could get everything i wanted in one, then i'd switch to just that platform, be it sony, palm, or ppc. if for example all the ppc software problems were fixed, maybe the survey would be expanded to include ppc as well, in terms of sony or something else.

If the TT3 is real, and it has a camera and WiFi... then i might consider it... but then, it won't have a CF or MSPro Slot, right?... what would i do with my CF WiFi Card, my 1GB Sandisk CF card, and my 128 MB MS... and my 512 MB MSPro (Planning to buy this last one next month)?... i think I'll stick to my NX70 untill there's a REAL improvement over it... BTW, I'm also planning to buy the car craddle, 'cause i believe someone will find a way to make it usable with the NX70

I voted for the 4th one. Yes, I'm proud to say I'm a Sony "zombie" but I'm an Apple "junkie" too.

However, I have a strange feeling I'm going to be a Linux fanatic soon. :D

I can't vote here because none of the above apply. I was really itching for an OS5 new processor device with no keyboard. I was also hoping for VG. I waited and waited. Sony never produced what I wanted to so I jumped ship. I bought a T2. No VG I know but it is SO SMALL and so simple. I am in love with it. And the screen is just fantastic!

Switching over was simple, I once owned an m515 so I already had a keyboard. I use SD cards in my camera so I already had those. I won't be waiting on Sony to release compatible peripherals once they finally do release a PDA worth something to me. My T665c is now really a backup device.

I'll buy Palm's second generation of a VG device, once all the bugs are worked out.

If you want a Palm OS 5 PDA with hi-res+ and vg in a t665C form factor (with no keyboard) then by a nx80 and once you turn the screen around glue or duct tape it shut.

None of the four choices apply to me.

I had a Sony Clie T615C, but a few months ago my needs changed, and the 33 Mhz processor in the T615C was just too slow. When I researched my options, none of the Sony choices met my needs and budget, and I decided on the Palm Tungsten C (however, if the T3 had been available last month, I would have bought it instead of the TC). It's as simple as that.

Cheers! Carla

I have had my n760c for almost two years now, and I have yet to see anything that really beats it. However, it's getting old - and the features/utility/form factor of the coming Tungsten T|3 look to annihilate all of the Sony models out there. I'll just buy whatever is the best when I have the money.

I thought about that, but then again, the thing would never EVER fit in my pocket! Is there a full sized keyboard available for it yet? More importantly, can I use the keyboard I already shelled out nearly a hundred dollars for to use with my T665c?

hmm...

Amen to that. If the NX80 had a removable camera and it were a bit thinner, then yes that would be nice (I would personally use "shiny ducktape"). However, it is clearly too think and long for my taste all together. That is why there a large group of people who WILL be leaving (and have already left) Sony. Most people I talk to are anxious for the new TT3 (or whatever they call it). If Sony were to listen, then they might protect some of their current customers.

Also for those of you who just love the clamshell, more power to you. I have not freaked on you nor your love for that unique design. Just because there a lot of other professionals who want simplicity and a compact design, does not invalidate their desire for one. It almost appears to me that there is some fear that this compact design may change Sony's current line. I don't think that will happen, so I would propose to Sony to be open to a more traditional and older style of the PDA to retain market share that could easily be kept.

I'm jumping ship as soon as the T3 hits the stores and unless Sony releases something the least bit similar I won't be looking back.

I switched from an SJ33 to a standard Tungsten/T. I kept waiting for Sony to produce an OS5 unit that was not a clamshell and was equiped with a designated graffiti area...I can't believe that even developed the TG50. I was a bit nervous jumping into the tungsten but have not been dissapointed at all.

Voice recorder,
small form factor,
a very loud speaker for a palm unit (I normally listen to MP3's through the built in speaker instead of headphones),
bluetooth,
SD cards are cheaper (256 mb for $90),

In short the Tungsten was a major boost over the SJ33 for my needs. There are some really nice clies, but nothing of interest in there small form factor units.
