The CLIE Remote is kind of limited and not a learning remote. Try Pronto lite or Omniremote. I'm not sure if these work for OS5 though.

from another thread- Pronto for OS5 is in progress. When I used it on my Palm Vx, the coolest thing was that it could learn from an existing remote and work on whatever device the remote was for. It's likely that it would work for your other A/V equipment.

-Clié Remote Commander isn't a favorite around here it seems, but it's really not a bad app. It looks nice enough, is easy to use, and works great on the things it's compatible with. Sony needs to add controller functions for Satellite/DirecTV and TIVO, so maybe the next version will be better(maybe even learning remote capabilities).
HOW TO SETUP CLIE RMC:
-open the app. in your clié, notice the row of buttons along the top(A, B, C, D, and SELECT). These are quick change buttons. You can actually program the remote for more systems if you want. Pick one of the letters.
-Open the pulldown menu and go to details. Select the category(is this a TV, DVD, etc.). Select the maker(there are quite a few choices here, so I don't know what everyone complains about).
Ignore mode for now(you can come back here and change to different modes if it doesn't initially work). Select which quick button you want this to be and give it a name at the bottom.
-Hit OK.
-Repeat for each piece of your A/V equipment.
-Once your equipment is setup, go to key assignment in the pulldown menu and select how you want the buttons on your NX to interact with your setup. I like to use the jog-dial to control volume, for example(pushing it in mutes).
-You just need to play with it a little, it's actually quite easy.

The problem with the included remote is the limited amount of supported equipment. The only piece of equipment that I own that will work with it is my TV. My stereo and DVD player aren't supported and I'm not even running knock-offs. I would really like to see either an updated list of manufacturers or a patch that allowed for programming the remote, as i do think the interface is quite elegant.

I can't get Clie RMC to work with Zenith brand TVs. It's a reasonably popular brand but I haven't found one of the built in brands to work with it. Anyone using RMC with Zenith?
Thanks,
Frank

I purchased a Sony TV to replace the Zenith, problem solved:D!
I did and it's true, only because the Zenith died.
I use this one and it's outstanding on my main Home Sony Theater

It works with my Zenith TV. The TV is like 12 years old though.

I hope so for the $189. That'd be about 2 Zires. ;)
It does look neat. Just put in a wireless router and bought the Sony WiFi so I'm laying low $$-wise. :)

Wait, the CLIE RMC or the one that n2ifp uses?

I purchased two of them for $109.00 each, far cheaper than the Sony Touch Screen job that had NO lighted buttons. $189.00 is list price. If there is something that can be remotely controlled, including X-10 devices, fans, and other infrared devices, this is it. For the money, it can't be beat, it also has 5-way joystick that everything(all buttons) can be programmed and learned. It really has some awesome capabilites too numerous to describe here.
I have around 12 mostly Sony componets, the whole idea was to be able to have one remote that COMPLETLY can replace ALL the remotes and still have ALL features and be able to label them so no human memory intervention is needed:)! Not only that, I can SEE all buttons and the screen in the darkness! BTW, the light button is located on the side so as not to inadvertantly change a function when operating in the dark.
