hi people hows it goin?

well my question was whats the big difference with the wl 100 and the wl 110 wifi card?

cause i was thinking about getting one for my nx70 when i saw one at Best Buy... it was the wl 110 card and i noticed that there were 2 boxes that said:

Box 1. 2.4ghz (11b/s)
box 2. 5.9ghz (52b/s)

Box 1. was checked... so that got me thinking... is there another wifi card possibly a third one (i dunno wl 120) out there somewhere thats 802.11g for my clie? cause i have a 52g wireless router at home and if i kan go 52b/s instead of the 11b/s that'd be great!

thanx in advance =)

Have not heard anything about a "G" card yet for the Clie. I will keep my ears and eyes open. I am not sure if it would be feasible yet for the Clie, meaning being able to process the incoming data that fast.

There are differences between the two cards.
WL110 is thicker than the WL100, Type-II vs Type-1.
WL100 is made by Symbol using the Intell Pro Wireless chipset.
WL100 has diversity antennae and has pretty decent range.
WL110 Range specs are less, but don't know if really means much.
WL110 has two lights instead of one.
WL100 can be used in PC's and some PPC's.

If there is indeed a 5.9Ghz card coming out, I think it'll be using 802.11a. Sony has released products already using it and just read a cNet article (http://news.com.com/2100-1041_3-5060019.html?tag=cd_mh) where Sony is releasing new Plasma TVs with WiFi 802.11a built in.

Yes, that would make more sense.

I missed that part in Cnet

Thanks!

Using 802.11g would not give you anything more on the palm, it's limited in speed no matter what card you use.

It could be nice if you could use the CF card on a laptop as well though.

i think you'd be able to transfer files to your pc or wifi hotsync faster with g though. you can use the w100 cf card with a laptop (with a cf to pc card adapter and the intel driver).

I thought Palm OS systems were limited to 1 Mbit/s . Maybe Sony's are different. :)

I believe you are right, it can only go so fast.
