After doing a lot of searching and reading about ClieMail, I realized that many people like myself are confused about attachment support. It is my understanding that emails downloaded wirelessly can have attachments that download as well, but email that is hotsynced with computer will have the attachments stripped out. Correct?

cliemail can only send/receive files that are viewable on the clie viewer, regardless of wireless or wired sync. so that is primarily pictures, etc in the correct format.

snappermail can send/receive native microsoft office files, since it has compatability with quickoffice. if i am not mistaken, other email applications such as dataviz and iambic, can sen/receive microsoft office files in their own respective formats. i think versa mail can also send/receive files in native microsoft office format.

hope this helps.

Just for completeness (in case of someone searching the threads like me). I have to tell that this is not true.

Clie-Mail does support other format's (while receiving email, that these viewable by clie-viever).

*Clie-Mail does lauch netfront to open html-mail and url's.
*Clie-Mail let's you store the following attachements on the memory-card: powerpoint, word, excel, pdf and others like txt. All these files can be seen natively using pixcel-viever (provided with the nz90 series).

I have to agree that snappermail is an extraordinary good application. But if you wan't to use the bundled mail-application, clie-mail is not bad too.

skccs,

Is this only for wireless mail or hotsync mail as well?

Never did it for me, although both are in ROM

Sony's documentation leaves a lot to be desired, it says only ClieViewer.

The NX73 and NX80 too!

I find that I can only send images as attachments in Clie Mail, yet I've heard it's possible to send MQV files as well. Any thoughts?

I've tried and successfully sent still images, voice recording, and (MQV) video cliping as e-mail attachment.

Right, anything you can see in Clie Viewer!

There might be other apps that can make use of Clie Mail, possibly?
