im new to gps and am wondering whats the best product(s) out there for us nx owners. i won lie, i know little to nothing about the wrld of gps. i just know that it might come in handy as i travel a lot via car. can anyone fill me in on a good gps unit for the nx, also what are some of the main pros and cons regarding gps. in the mean time i'll try to search more on the subject. thanks guys and gals.

is mapopolis the way to go as far as palm maps are concerned?

I just returned my review unit of the Holux GPS for the CLIE and will be finishing my review for PDAGeek in a few days. I was very impressed with the unit and the speed it picked up the signal and the ability to maintain it when the "mouse" wasn't even close to a window was amazing. Mapopolis is my favorite GPS software (I have tried several others with my Pocket PC) mainly because it SCREAMS on the CLIE. The maps move and zoom instantly, there is no rendering delay or anything.

The Holux GPS can only be used in a car since it uses a cigarette lighter adapter to power the GPS and charge your CLIE at the same time. It will not work unless it is plugged into a source.

Mapopolis is amazing..... especially on the hires..... no doubt the best for the money... or best period... those rand mcnally progs are junky compared.

I have had the unit for about a week. All in all, I am very happy with it. Before the Holux, I tried two different "talking" GPS units for the PocketPC. They performed very poorly. I sent them back. The Holux is a keeper, in large part because Mapopolis maps are so good.

The only glitch is an unpredictble failure to establish a connection between the Clie and the Holux. I get an "unable to open a port" error message when I try to start the GPS. The only things that gets things working is a soft reset on the Clie. When i then start Mapopolis, it says that "Mapopolis is not compatible with hacks". I don't have any hacks installed, as far as I know.
