The textured NX mag casing makes it more difficult to clean than my NR was. It seems to a magnet for fingerprints and smudges. I've been cleaning it using achohol swabs but they don't get every smudge out. I'm afraid to use soap and water, or windex or other harsh chemicals.

Does anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks,

- G

I always wash my hands before using, so it never gets dirty. Never pour liquid on the LCD screen, as it may drip inside and ruin it.

I know Windex can also remove paint! Try a very mild soap and very little liquid with some kind of soft brush. Above all, be gentle with your Clie.

I would advise using the white plastic-typ eraser, rather than a real (pink) rubber eraser. The rubber (or its additives) can actually damage the finish. Never use a gray ink eraser!

As Larry said, be very careful *what* you use on your Clie, and *when* you use it. Personally, for all my PDAs, including my old NR70, I've used eyeglass wipes (a type listed as safe for coatings), for both the body and the screen. The NR70's serial number label used an ink that was susceptible to alcohol, but the NX doesn't seem to be. Be sure that nothing you use contains ammonia (such as Windex!) or silicone, as they *will* damage the screen. Never, ever, ever spray directly onto the Clie with anything. Always spray the soft cloth first.

Optical quality cloths and brushes, such as recommended for use on cameras, should work fine.

So, in regular dishwasher load, bad idea?

Seriously, water is the best solvent-I use a damp, soft towel. Yeah, clean hands. Put the Clie away when the chicken wings arrive. That goes for corn on the cob and lobster claws too.

PLEXUS! A plastic cleaner, polish and protectant. I clean both my screen (the protectant makes it so the stylus glides and doesn't scratch the screen) and casing once every day (sometimes every other). Just do a search on google for plexus. You'll find a retailer that sells it, it's like $7-10 for a 7oz can.

Enjoy.
