Hello All!
I am considering purchasing either a T665 or a SJ30. I can't decide between the two. I like the shape and features of the T665 but have been scared of the battery life. Is the SJ30's battery life that much better?
I am not a big fan of the new SJ33. I think it looks too thick and a bit too much like a toy than a tool.
Any advice, recommendations, or warnings on the two Clie's will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Actually, I've owned both the SJ30 and the T665. I returned the SJ30 because of the lack of an mp3 player and having only a 33mhz chip. I was very plesed with the SJ30 but I have heard that the memory stick access is quite slow. The battery life is excellent. I loved the size and thickness of the unit. It was just a little slow for opening certain programs.
I am very happy I switched to the T665 but if you don't need an mp3 player, then ask yourself if you really need a faster proscessor. The battery life seems very good and far better then many people say.(it also helps that I keep my screen on minimum brightnes) The T665 is incredibly fast with almost no waiting time for program loading and such. The memory stick access is fast as well.
If you have the money, go for the T665. You won't be dissapointed.
If you have any other questions, I'd be glad to answer them.
I believe T665 comes down to $299.00. I would have bought a T665 if I were not tempted by the wireless LAN enabled NX70V.

In my opinion, there is no contest between the T665 and the SJ30. I bought an SJ30 and returned it for a T665.
SJ30 was too thick (.7") for me compared to 665 (.5").
SJ30 too bulky.
You can buy a 665 at www.ecost.com for $269.
I bought an open box 665 at Best Buy store for $239.99, 20% off new lower price of $299.99.
I recommend the 665 with no reservations.
Good Luck!

Sorry, I meant to log on before the last post, so I have repeated it below:

Go for the T665. The faster proc. and thinner design make it a perfect pick. I have no problem with the battery as I put it in the charger until it is fully charged whenever I am not using it.

Amen! I agree with RNClie 100% !!!!!
Get the T. Faster processor, MS access, better screen, smaller size, MP3.

Whatever you do, I suggest doing it fast. Looks like the SJ30 and T665 are nearing the end of their product lives.
I too compared both machines. I actually had both at home for a week before returning the SJ30. I preferred the feel of the SJ30 over the T665. I did not mind the thickness. I also preferred the buttons on the SJ30. Both of these are obviously personal preference. However, I couldn't hear the SJ30 speaker, so as an alarm it was useless. The speed of the T665 is nice, as it is double the SJ30 and more than triple my old Palm IIIc. I've had no trouble with battery life, but keep the brightness down to less than half. You rarely need more.
If you don't like the new SJ33, you'll probably be happier with the T665 in the long run.

I think you have sold me on the T665. I was mostly concerned with the battery life. As for the cost difference, there really isn't one anymore. I can't find the SJ30 in stock anywhere online and the price in stores is 249.00. I can get the T665 online for just about the same price (I love not paying tax).
Thanks!

I may be one of a few people who actually really like the enhanced IR of the 665. I use it as my main television remote. I also like the thinness. My battery life is great, although I don't use it for hours on end. I keep the screen on minimum brightness and usually doesn't drop below 100% (or 4.0v) in a day and I charge it every night. I do like the mp3 feature, especially for plane trips. I use the mp3 player for a few hours during travel, but not continuously. The memory stick access is 2x as fast as on the 33Mhz models, and if you get fast cpu you can bump that up to almost 3x as fast. I've tested this with MSBackup at 66 and 88Mhz -- the decreased time of the backup is proportionally equal to the increase in clock speed. I think a good question to ask is "is now a good time to buy a sony pda?" "could a zire tide me over until something cooler comes out?" Although, it looks like the next 2 clie's in the pipe line might not turn out to be so cool (sj33 and tg50). Hope this helps. Brian
P.S. the speaker on the 665 is a bit quiet, but you can listen to MP3's with it in a quiet room.
P.P.S I'd look into whether or not the SJ33 or Tg50 will accept 256MB-1GB memory sticks, if indeed you care about that

i agree wholeheartedly. the 665C is a great unit. i had sj20 and loved the feel of it. i tried to upgrade to the sj30, but they are out of stock all over. I picked up a 665 at staples for $285 using their price match policy. i love it. once i get it bluetooth enabled i'll be sitting pretty yo.

You got a very good deal. In the future (or even now on a return/rebuy basis) you can usually use Staples coupons from the web in the stores. (Staples is one of the few that usually take web coupon codes in the stores as well as online. The codes will work in their cash registers.) They take them at the local store when I print out the coupon number in a frame with the Staple Home Page in the background. I use "Print Screen" function of Windows to get the right printout.
Here's one of the best coupon sites I have found:
http://www.1-coupon.com
Here's a direct link to the Staples coupons/coupon codes:
http://www.1-coupon.com/search.asp?term=staples
Once I got a $50. off $200. coupon. Nice discount!
Good Luck!

I bought a T665C a week ago via ecost, there are plusses and minuses, the battery life is OK but reminds me of the PPC where you constantly must worry about recharging.
The 5 thin buttons are OK except the up/down button which is not only thin but so hard to push it's almost unusable with one hand, which is what I use all the time to read. The thumbwheel is set in closer to the clie body so it's also hard to scroll with it.
The audio player 2.2 accepts idtagsv1 but seems is not compatible with 20Kbps (regular is 128kbps but for voice 20kbps is plenty) mp3s, bummer. There are two other audio players, for the clie T series maybe they will help.
But I will keep the T665.
which is better, the t665 or the new hp 1910?

H1910 BIG TIME is better. Imagine the games you can play on a PPC compared to palm...PPC: Tomb raider, Ziosoft Fifa, Everquest, and Argentum VS Masterthief, ???, Aldon's crossing, Kingdom. The comparison is just laughable. Oh, don't forget: PPC - DivX, Palm - Kinoma. Hahahahahaha!

Haha.... yes he sure is wrong.
The T665 is far better IMO. Read some other threads to find out why.
Jake please support your opinion. You have absolutely no knowledge on the H1910. I see nothing better about the T665 than H1910. H1910 = smaller, D-pad, faster, voice recording, ACTIVESYNC, DivX, thinner, way better stock stylus, way better multimedia capabilities, SD slot unlike the crappy memory sticks, brighter/better screen(look at comparison photos). The only thing the T665 has over an H1910 is that it comes with a leather flip cover.

Here, let me help Jake, and speak for the majority of us that have a life and want a PDA mainly because it helps them be more productive, and thus get more out of life: The T665 is better because the applications that run on it, and other PalmOS devices, are 10 times better than PPC applications as a whole.
On the otherhand, if you are in the minority, and want to play games and watch movies on a tiny screen, then you are right, the H1910 is a better TOY!

Come on guys. I posted in a Sony Clie Board because I want constructive discussion about the Sony Clie line. Not a HP handheld, and definately not PPC OS.
Please keep your PPC to your own boards and please stop stirring up trouble. Lets be constructive..not see who's PDA is the biggest.

I've never tried either the SJ30 or the T665, but I own a T415 and love the sleek brushed aluminum case and form factor. If I were to pick between the two I would choose the T665 for physical characteristics alone (I guess that makes me superficial).

I actually do know about the H1910. My aunt has one and I've used it more then enough to know that it sucks compared to the T665. As I said before, this is in my opinion.

Yes, your opinion...once again, no support. And if your aunt actually DID have a H1910, I highly doubt you would choose your T665 over it. Unless of course, your Aunt actually DIDN'T have an H1910 and you were just expressing your very [U]BIASED[U/] opinion.

Yes my aunt does have the H1910. I'd post a picture of her holding it or me holding it or something, but that would be a waste of time. The T665 is much faster then the H1910 in almost all areas. If you count the number of clicks that it takes to write a memo or to do other things on the H1910, it is much more then on the T665.
Of course, you will disagree with everything I just said.

I think the days of not paying sales online are almost over. I saw where several online companies including Amazon.com are going to start charging sales tax. Check on Cnet.com and do a search on Sales tax. Those days are almost over.
